“the constitution forbids race conscious remedies” would be news to the people who wrote the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments

Topics Mike Johnson thinks are serious:

- Super Bowl halftime entertainer
- getting a Nobel Prize for Trump
- terrifying naked bike riders

Topics he thinks are not serious:

- Epstein Files
- domestic violence
- being able to keep the govt open
- the neutering of Congress

Q: This has been reported for a while. Cory Mills was accused of beating a girlfriend in his DC apt. Are you concerned about these allegations?

JOHNSON: You have to ask Rep. Mills about that. He's been a faithful colleague. I don't know the details. Let's talk about things that are really serious

A former acting director of ICE says that, today, immigration control is the highest priority of federal police agencies and the Department of Defense. If that is true, then the administration is inviting both domestic crime and foreign aggression.

Next time Mike Johnson et al get up there to call Democrats Marxists and Socialists, I’d love to be there to ask them what they think that means and be immediately disavowed by the outlet that sent me.

Today, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that the US govt. would set “price floors” across a range of industries.

The reporter doing the interview didn’t follow up on that comment, so we don’t know anything more about what he meant.
Bessent Says U.S. Government Will ‘Set Price Floors’ Across Industries
The treasury secretary made the eyebrow-raising comment during a conversation about trade and industrial policy with CNBC.

The Founders counted on Congress being interested in protecting its own powers vis a vis the executive. They certainly didn't foresee a speaker like Mike Johnson. www.thebulwark.com/p/speaker-mi...

Something else that has never happened before in American history, as the Trump admin continues to piss on the Bill of Rights while Republicans in Congress continue to remain silent. Another thing to protest on Saturday.

Attention Republicans: there will be no such thing as a “safe seat” when your constituents find out their healthcare premiums are doubling.

Trump states will get hit hardest, and your voters think you don’t care.

Some housing advocates believe the zoning override has the potential to unlock roughly 30,000 parcels statewide. (2/2)

This would be excellent in Oklahoma where churches own much prime land. the 10% affordable units is the magic number to make the housing attractive to all. Bravo!

This year, Florida enacted a measure, sponsored by Calatayud, allowing multifamily residential development on land that is both owned by a religious institution and occupied by a house of worship, so long as at least 10% of the new units are affordable. (1/2)

A video of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem blaming Democrats for the ongoing government shutdown began airing in some U.S. airports last week, according to Reuters. But several airports don't plan to show the video, including in Oklahoma City. Good job OKC. I didn't see it in Tulsa, either.

Localities may have to step in to maintain critical functions like transit, infrastructure, & social services, sometimes without assurance of federal reimbursement. Over time, the revenue shortfalls & operational disruptions can erode capacity and shift costs upward for residents. (2/2) #TrumpChaos
