"During ... [Ralph Abraham's] time as head of the state's health department and as surgeon general, Louisiana's COVID rates spiked, with the state becoming one of the worst in the country in terms of spreading of the virus."
Ralph Abraham, a top health official in Louisiana who has peddled disinformation about vaccines, has been quietly named as principal deputy director for the CDC. Because the CDC does not yet have a permanent director, Abraham will likely serve as the de facto head of the agency until one is found.
The CDC Just Appointed an Anti-Vaxxer to the Agency’s Second-Highest Position
In 2024, Ralph Abraham ordered state agencies under his watch to stop recommending vaccines.

I was going to say it must be so hard to do your job these days.

But I've just been reading about the Oklahoma college student essay mess and ... I teach writing.

Ugh. Let's get out of this mess and restore some sanity and decency. And science. And thinking.

Lol, Zillow tried to rate the climate risks facing individual properties. The real estate industry *hated* it, precisely because it worked -- it made selling risky properties more difficult. So they rebelled & Zillow caved.

Don't look up!

Of course, Trump cut all funding for this high school science competition, calling it “DEI.”

Good grief. He’s putting America further and further behind.

One more stupid Trump choice to reverse on Day One after voting these fools out.
Lambert High School in Georgia was the only U.S. school to place in the high school top 10 at iGEM, an international synthetic biology competition. The other top teams included one from South Korea, one from Taiwan, and seven from China. cbsn.ws/4otdEKq

Does he not recall having the MRI? Did he not think to ask what the MRI was for? Is he deflecting?

“What part of your body was the MRI on?”

Trump: no idea, but it wasn’t the brain!

90% probability MRI was on his brain.

Trump also says it’s ok to release it. Journalists, do your thing.
Reporter: Governor Walz called for the release of your MRI results

Trump: They were perfect like my phone call where I got impeached.

Reporter: Can you tell us what they were looking at?

Trump: I have no idea. It was just an MRI. It wasn’t the brain because I took a cognitive test and aced it.

Just wait till some biologist professor gets in trouble because a student claims a religious belief that evolution doesn't exist or a physicist professor because a student says the world is only 6,000 years old. It'll be the death of higher education in the US and the start of a theocracy.

My alma mater is embarrassing me tonight.
This was handed in for a PSYCH CLASS & when the prof said she didn't use empirical sources but rather submitted op-ed she whined about religious liberty + prof got suspended.

I was a *Religious Studies* major; in my time she would have been rightly BBQ'd had she dared to hand in this absolute drek.

Recognizing the International Criminal Court is required for holding a US citizen accountable at The Hague?

I kind of recall that from an international law class 42 years ago. US declined recognition of the ICC to keep our military from being subject to the international court for lawful action.
Read the column? I explain it there.

I think it is likely because he will not be held accountable in our federal judicial system.
