I went to Amsterdam for a tour of the MatchWornShirt warehouse and wrote about it here
The Footballers' shirts selling for a fortune from Messi, Ronaldo and McTominay
Football fans have been paying tens of thousands of pounds for shirts worn by footballers at iconic moments and Scotland star Scott McTominay's name is one to take pride of place

This is an excellent story. We got similar pitches from the same writer at Defector and if they had not been entirely generated by someone plugging prompts into The Fabulism Device they really would've been cool.
A few months ago @thelocal.to got a promising pitch from a writer with bylines in whole bunch of reputable publications—The Cut, The Guardian, Dwell, Architectural Digest, etc. Then I started investigating. Here's a story about fabulists in journalism's AI slop era. thelocal.to/investigatin...
Investigating a Possible Scammer in Journalism’s AI Era | The Local
A suspicious pitch from a freelancer led editor Nicholas Hune-Brown to dig into their past work. By the end, four publications, including The Guardian and Dwell, had removed articles from their sites.

Can the public really tell this? Or are they simply force-fed it 24 hours a day?
Asked how happy Keir Starmer is that Tommy Robinson is now backing his asylum plans, his spokesman replies that "the public can tell that the pace and scale of illegal immigration is out of control..."

"We must restore order... or we will lose public consent for giving refuge at all".

I’m surely not the only one who read this as a cat costing $7k and assumed it was just chuck blazer’s legacy
$7,000 for a cat. A ticket for the WC final. Over seven times what it cost for a similar ticket at the Euro 2024 final, almost five times what was charged at Qatar 2022. Too much is never enough for Gianni Infantino.
Another price increase for the 2026 World Cup…

Sensing strong demand, FIFA raised the cost of many tickets to record-setting heights — the first large-scale implementation of its “variable pricing” strategy.

I don’t believe in treating the idea of beating a joke into the ground as a pejorative, I think it’s our responsibility, like a hunter who uses every part of the deer instead of letting it go to waste
