Doesn't matter, he's scored now and Norway are 3-0 up after 28 minutes. Israel have scored two own goals and, the way they're defending, the end tally could be anything.

Big headline so far at Norway v Israel is that Erling Haaland has missed two penalties – the initial effort and then the retake...

I do wonder where the Spanish and Italian fans are on this. It’s a disappointment.

No decision by UEFA ExCo re approving domestic games on other continents. Instead decided on “round of consultation w/stakeholders, including fans”. Big blow to La Liga hopes of decamping to US this yr given next ExCo meeting isn’t til Dec. Tense few days but gravity of subject has belatedly sunk in

One last push for this – because it's important! Once domestic games start being moved abroad, there's no putting the genie back. And despite their current stance there is nothing to say the Premier League won't change course and do this in future: www.theguardian.com/football/202...

We're weeks from seeing La Liga & Serie A given approval to stage games overseas – next big step on Thurs. I'm not sure many realise how close we are to a move that will change football forever. This is the state of play, including detail on FIFA's working group: www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Gareth Southgate can do this. Why can't Starmer?

It would be so unbelievably easy to make a patriotic and pride case for Britain while simultaneously putting the racists and bigots firmly back in their box.

I mean the speech writes itself.
So why is nobody writing it?

Matt Chorley, "Are flags patriotic or racist?"

Keir Starmer, "I'm a supporter of flags?"

Matt Chorley, "What about painting roundabouts?"

Keir Starmer, "In our flat we have the St George's flag. I think think they're patriotic. A great symbol of our nation"

That's the national broadcaster *and* the Labour prime minister prostrating themselves in front of far-right talking points once again.

Asked by the BBC how he would feel if "your daughter was having to walk past one of these [asylum] hotels every day?" Keir Starmer replies that "I completely get it".

"I understand why people want the hotels closed. I want them closed".

Can't see it not happening; *can* see an extremely belated discussion about what controls to put on it going forwards and how.
