Tour de force of investigative journalism here. Globe obtained evidence and made connections that Judge Wyant did not. Also, Globe confirmed former Edmonton Police Chief Dale McFee was guest of Sam Mraiche at Oilers game. EPS failed to be forthright with me when I raised this in a previous story. 1

Why do people think the Liberal party is entitled and corrupt

truly a mystery
David Cochrane asks about the fact that it would’ve been impossible for the coastal First Nations to travel from their communities to meet the feds on the timeline the govt offered.

“It’s called Zoom,” Natural Resources Minister Tim Hodgson responds.

Jesus CHRIST.

I realize this is such small potatoes, but there's no such thing as a "permanent pause."

Guy's really fucking stupid.
November 28, 2025 at 6:12 PM
Noteworthy that Vassy Kapelos gives Hodgson an opportunity to walk back this statement or clarify.

He does not.

The Liberal Party does not give a damn about the environment. And the colour of Hodgson's hair is a big clue as to why.
People who care about climate change are “dreaming nostalgically about the past.” - Minister Hodgson

Gotcha. That explains a lot.

Just got hit with an Angus Reid #cdnpoli poll. That means data collection post-pipeline announcement.

Should be interesting to see how this one goes. Includes a question on Poilievre staying as leader.

I'm now convinced that there is *nothing* that Carney loyalists won't rationalize -- or even praise -- no matter what it is. No principles anywhere to be seen.
November 28, 2025 at 4:47 PM
If only we had several real-world examples of failed centre-right govs moving further to the right and completely alienating left-wing and centrists voters to see how Carney's actions might turn out.
November 28, 2025 at 12:19 AM
This is probably the biggest reason I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. We have had multiple towns nearly or even entirely burnt off the face of the earth. We have floods and droughts destroying our agriculture. The water supply in cities like Calgary is straight FUCKED.

But wheee politics fun
Something that is easy to forget in all the "Carney is a political genius / Carney is a political naif" argle bargle is that climate policies matter. Environmental regulations matter. Getting rid of them may or may not achieve a political end — but it's guaranteed to have real-world implications.

I think it’s bad, actually, to play political chess with Indigenous rights.

The mental gymnastics about how Carney is actually playing 4D chess and brilliantly fooled Albertans and will maybe even win more seats in Alberta and Indigenous people and progressives will forget when there's no actual pipeline and he's not at all in it for the corporations.

I know that inevitably, when the Carney gov falls (and God let that be soon) we'll hear the same toxic refrain; that if we don't vote Lib we're selling out Trans ppl, or supporting Trump, yadda yadda.

Here's the thing: Lib partisans are the ones truly holding Trans rights and progress hostage.

The Liberal party was historically unpopular only a few months before the last election. If you think the reason is that they weren't appeasing the US enough, or were too feminist, or cared too much about climate, or weren't sufficiently militaristic, well, good luck with the next election.
November 27, 2025 at 5:36 PM
The Libs are right-wing, killing enviro oversight, gutting clean energy, proclaiming "carbon capture"(bullshit tech), sucking up to Trump, overfunding military for an arbitrary GDP goal, in bed with tech broligarchs and shoveling money to AI.

Canada has no left wing voice. We haven't ever had one.
November 27, 2025 at 4:54 PM
The Carney gov may be the most disastrous of my life.
Rather than present alternatives to Con policy, they adopt their positions.

Cons have 2 options:
- move left (HA)
- even further right

So, a narrative that Libs are the "wacky left who ruined Canada" leaving us a nightmare far-right goon squad.

Great vid from @ohtheurbanity.bsky.social on YYJ's biking revolution. When I wrote an article on Bike Lanes and disability, a local who uses them in a wheelchair told me he feels for Lisa Helps, unfairly maligned, and implored her to hang in there.
Very glad she did.

One of the core tools of fascism is nihilism - the belief that nothing can be better, that morals don't matter, that life itself doesn't matter. It's about keeping people complacent, inactive, and above all, cruel to each other, to permit greater cruelty.
Lots of people sharing this clip because it's funny and cathartic but I also genuinely believe it's important.

We have to win the narrative battle between "I live in a corrupt society and that's just how it is" and "I live in a corrupt society and we are going to defeat and humiliate these ghouls."
Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷
