Really delighted that so many contributors responded on very short notice when we reached out about reprinting their work from this series, and I'm glad that it once again has an online home that's easy to search for, share, and read.
In honor of @sfdirewolf.bsky.social's legacy as a disability activist and writer, today we are republishing Bitch Magazine's Access Series, which was originally curated by Alice Wong. Worker-owner and former Bitch editor-in-chief Evette Dionne updated the intro to the series here:

It's off topic and I'm just curious, but when you're having a chat around the virtual office, do any of you ever affectionately refer to the flytrap as "Audrey 3". Bc that's all your mascot ever makes me think. Better never pay me for a story or I'll never shut up about being printed by Audrey 3.

Writers deserve to get paid
I posted a buy link here to "A Magical Inheritance" a few days ago, and 24 of you immediately went to Anna's Archives and fucking stole it from me.

Yes, stole it.

I do not get paid for your download there because YOU ARE STEALING FROM ME.

I did a thread a few weeks ago of "authors link your stuff" & one of my author friends who is one emergency away from being homeless had a massive spike in downloads on Anna's Archive from people *who follow me* complaining about how they are poor & should be allowed to steal from other poor people

I have had it with the justifications. The weaponization of poverty, neurodiversity, mental illness, all of it.

if you follow me and are using my RTs of authors' books to pirate books (many who are financially struggling, I might add), then frankly fuck off.

If we had to hear “Baby Shark” everywhere we went for two whole months out of the year we’d throw a fit, right?

And rightfully so.

So tell me, why do we put up with it when the song is “Frosty the Snowman”?

One year when I was managing a restaurant the Muzak Christmas album that we put on when it arrived around Thanksgiving gave back to back to back renditions of Frosty. I switched it out for the non-Christmas one for that period and refused to put it back in until the week of Christmas.

Hey Science people 🧪, anyone know if there have there been papers written or studies done on the effect of non-stop christmas pop music to people? I certainly feel like I'm still recovering from 10 years of of working retail

I haven’t worked retail in 17+ years and I STILL have a resistance to certain corporate holiday music because of it.

There are specific versions of songs that give me PTSD.

“Marshmallow World” will send me into a murderous rage.

I worked at Macy's and one Christmas, the speaker over my register only worked 5% of the time. Unfortunately, it always worked for All I Want for Christmas is My 2 Front Teeth, and Feliz Navidad.
That's all I heard. Static and those 2 songs.
