It seems like an unwritten law in some circles that you can't call for Israel to stop occupying the West Bank, but you also have to asses Israel as if it doesn't occupy the West Bank.

Why would a billionaire want a functioning paper? Functioning papers cover shit like “did you know this billionaire makes his workers pee into bottles instead of taking a break” and “you pay way more tax than a guy with ten yachts”

Reducing what TNC witnessed in his trip to Israel to "feelings" is quite something. He saw and witnessed apartheid. This is well-written and documented in his book. It was not a feeling--it was objective facts.

I've never really gotten a satisfactory answer on this beyond the fact that Western establishmentsrian left liberals, especially in the Anglosophere and Germany, just simply identify with Israel on an ideological level.

Yeah I think it is abundantly clear that Israeli politicians, and not just limited to Netanyahu but even up to Lapid, have a preference for right wing blocs in other countries. The puzzling part is that liberals and left wingers across the board in N America and Western Europe have no response

In 2004, Parisian police were conducting a training exercise in the french catacombs and found, after moving past a desk and a tape playing audio of snarling dogs, a fully functional movie theater and bar. When they returned 3 days later, the equipment was gone, with a note: “Do not try to find us.”
Members of the force's sports squad, responsible
- among other tasks - for policing the 170 miles of tunnels, caves, galleries and catacombs that underlie large parts of Paris, stumbled on the complex while on a training exercise beneath the Palais de Chaillot, across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower.
After entering the network through a drain next to the Trocadero, the officers came across a tarpaulin marked: Building site, No access.
Behind that, a tunnel held a desk and a closed-circuit TV camera set to automatically record images of anyone passing. The mechanism also triggered a tape of dogs barking, "clearly designed to frighten people off," the spokesman said.
Further along, the tunnel opened into a vast 400 sq metre cave some 18m underground, "like an underground amphitheatre, with terraces cut into the rock and chairs". There the police found a full-sized cinema screen, projection equipment, and tapes of a wide variety of films, including 1950s film noir classics and more recent thrillers. None of the films were banned or even offensive, the spokesman said.
A smaller cave next door had been turned into an informal restaurant and bar. "There were bottles of whisky and other spirits behind a bar, tables and chairs, a pressure-cooker for making couscous," the spokesman said.
"The whole thing ran off a professionally installed electricity system and there were at least three phone lines down there."
Three days later, when the police returned accompanied by experts from the French electricity board to see where the power was coming from, the phone and electricity lines had been cut and a note was lying in the middle of the floor: "Do not," it said, "try to find us."

A lot of “liberal” Zionists think it’s okay to speak now that there’s a tentative ceasefire, and let me assure them, it is never time for them to speak — ever.

Yeah the hypocrisy of being native to this land & having my ancestors raped for brazilian miscigenation & whitening of the race. You got me!
nicolefroio.bsky.social
Also why should I leave? Why do you assume I'm not from this land? What about the displaced slaves that came to this land? You don't understand decolonization as a demand because you do not take it seriously.
nicolefroio.bsky.social
Jewish people living in Palestine does not require the building of a Jewish ethnostate.
nicolefroio.bsky.social
Assuming decolonization is about bodies leaving land and not a radical change in power structures is how I know you don't understand or care to understand what decolonization actually is.
pdnell.bsky.social
Have you left? Then sit down.
nicolefroio.bsky.social
Why are you assuming I'm a colonizer babes? Not everyone is like you.
nicolefroio.bsky.social
It's called the process of colonization and nation-making, I know it's hard for you to understand since you're asking asinine questions.
nicolefroio.bsky.social
People who are pro colonization always think this is a gotcha. This is why the question of Palestine is central to all social justice, it cracks open the colonization many nations went through and how that brutal process still affects all of us.

That's because they learned that Israel is built on colonized land. They connected the dots. Once you learn the actual history of Israel, there's no other path. That whole land should be Palestine.

one of my takeaways from this great piece is that weiss just doesn’t…sound like an intelligent person? or at least, not someone who has thought even a little bit about how and why they think the things that they do. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gieT...

????? I live in Brazil, occupied Guarani land. And what? I think my country should be returned to the indigenous people originally here. You good?
nicolefroio.bsky.social
It's absolutely wild how much Israeli propaganda has convinced millions of people that Palestine belongs to them. It's truly horrid, how much this is just accepted and saying otherwise, stating facts, is understood as offensive and too radical.

They were calling for a unilateral ceasefire and for dismantling Israel altogether, days after October 7th. They tore down posters of hostages.
sifill.bsky.social
I can’t help but think today about how many young people were savaged on social media, branded as anti-semites and abandoned by their schools for daring to call for a ceasefire. I remember saying that it was the first time I can remember that calling for ceasefire was regarded as a hostile demand.
nicolefroio.bsky.social
Is there any way CBS news journalists could gather evidence that Bari Weiss is fabricating sources and stories and leak that evidence to journalists like me so we could dismantle The Free Press from the inside?
