Me: In bed early, big, important day tomorrow!

My last two brain cells at 3am:
I'll say it once, but I'll say it tonight: go dawgs
Don't look now, but based on early returns Democrats have a shot at flipping a legislative seat in Georgia tonight... The results from Athens are gigantic for their candidate. More momentarily.

London advice sought. Any not-so-central neighborhoods you'd recommend to stay and poke around in? My goals are simple: just to wander about, sit in a pub, watch sport, enjoy food of any and all cuisines, and just chill out for a weekend.

Wasn't expecting a MNF x Eurovision x oppressive Georgian (Republic of) politics crossover tonight.

This isn't a "diplomatic effort". It's a business deal to feed one guy's ego and greed with no consideration for diplomacy or the freedom of Ukraine and millions of Ukrainians

It'll forever be a national shame that this "effort" has gone on as it has for as long as it has with no ability to stop it
U.S. President Donald Trump has unleashed the most extensive diplomatic effort to end the fighting in Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion nearly four years ago, but Washington’s efforts have run into sharply conflicting demands by Moscow and Kyiv. https://to.pbs.org/4rKTs9z
What to know about peace talks on Russia's war in Ukraine
Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner visited Moscow last week for five-hour talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

plus you can get those ebooks and audiobooks straight to your phone, no physical visit required. feels like an infinite money glitch, only your dollars don't go toward some bezos-owned online property.
Stopped at the library today to pick up a book on hold and this is your reminder to get a library card, if you haven’t!

They have books, ebooks, audiobooks, dvds!

Want to learn something? They have fun workshops and classes!

Some have AWESOME makerspaces and lend out tools or baking supplies!

Always thought the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl was the oddest sponsor and location mashup until now
We are being robbed of greatness.

Since day one, Western reporting overestimates Ru's strength and underestimates Ukraine, subtly legitimizes Ru's aggression by repeating various Ru pretexts for the war, and overwhelmingly pities Ukraine, subtly creating the impression that their loss is a foregone conclusion.
Noticed tonight that @cbsnews.com coverage of the situation in Ukraine had plenty on Russian strikes and non-progress of US peace efforts, but nothing on Ukrainian counterattacks into Russia, sanctions, nor EU military support.

Seems biased towards the Russian perspective.

For the next few moments I'm a single issue voter and that's for anyone promising Loretta Lynch back as U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York to finish the job on all these guys.

Something nice to see among all the doom and gloom on the timeline. Local engagement with your neighbors works.
We did it! Hosted another Flock camera community discussion in my rural WA town, and the sheriff came to confirm they won’t be renewing the contract or considering them again.
This is why I believe so strongly in neighbor-run town halls, especially trying it before ex: a lawsuit or ballot measure.

This is bad, but I will forgive and even thank Netflix if they get into a really protracted and damaging legal battle with the Ellisons

listen

I don't have any illusions about the United States military, what it does, or how many times this has happened before

but the fact that they sat there for 41 minutes, watched two scared, human beings desperately struggling to stay alive, and then murdered them has fucked me up so deeply

Not at all related but today my stylist was telling me about this Tool cover band she likes and I was like, dude, being a Tool cover band is just about the most audacious kind of cover band to be. Maybe second only to Queen. That’s a huge promise.

I’ve sometimes fallen into the trap of thinking that complementing a creative person for their work is less sophisticated or desired than discussion or debate about it but very often the best thing you can say to them is hell yeah and that doesn’t make you dumb it just makes you nice

As a blue blue Democrat in the South South, how are *any* of these names here before any of the Georgia ones? Rhode Island?? Hawaii??????

Plain cowardice.
11 Senate Democrats just voted to advance the nomination of a Federal Society judge who used to defend banks and payday lenders:

Durbin
Gallego
Hassan
Hirono
Kaine
Kelly
King
Klobuchar
Reed
Rosen
