It seems bad that only $668 million of California's $31 billion transportation budget is for public transit capital projects next year.

HSR gets another $798 million.

$1.45 billion out of $31 billion. It's a hidden form of climate arson.
The 2025-26 California Spending Plan: Transportation
In this post, we summarize some of the most notable components of transportation program budgets in the 2025-26 spending plan.

Great article about the benefits of having Sunset Dunes, a park, not an obsolete roadway near your business. www.sfchronicle.com/opinion/open...
We’re small business owners in the Sunset. Reopening the Great Highway is the last thing we need
OPINION: Some candidates hoping to replace Supervisor Joel Engardio are pledging to reopen the Great Highway and close Sunset Dunes park. That’s a mistake, Britt-Marie Alm and Poppy Gilman write.

CW: protester being struck in the head by a pepper ball

Footage I took earlier of the moment Reverend David Black, a regular protester outside of the Broadview Detention Center, was shot in the head with a pepper ball by ICE agents on the roof of the facility.

I love the amount of bike parking Hardly Strictly Bluegrass provides. But I wish they weren't only temporary fences so they could be able to accommodate more types of bikes easily.

@joelengardio.bsky.social had the courage to let San Franciscans decide the future of our coast. Sunset Dunes is already one of the city’s most popular parks, bringing joy to tens of thousands of people every week.

If that’s what they do to a United States Senator with a question, imagine what they can do to any American that dares to speak up. We will hold this administration accountable.

WTF...
Here's another angle from Fox News reporter Bill Melugin of Sen. Alex Padilla getting roughed up by law enforcement after he tries to question Kristi Noem at her presser:

“I’m Senator Alex Padilla. I have questions for the secretary. Because the fact of the matter is, a half dozen... Hands off!”

running the federal govt the same way I figure out which breaker powers the garage
the white house saying the medicaid portal will be "back online shortly" does lend some credence to the idea that they're just shutting the entire government down and manually whitelisting whatever they see becoming an immediate political threat

IMO whichever company can 1st produce an affordable, decent range, fast charging 7 seat “Dodge minivan” EV (e.g., the Ionic 9) will own the North American car market from the mid 2020s through the mid ‘35s - a full hard accelerating EV that holds a full family+ (…hilarious spell check change below)

San Francisco’s Vision Zero data suggest that in recent years, motorists were at fault in most pedestrian deaths by car. Still, some readers think city safety measures do more to inconvenience drivers...

The first time I read this through I swear to god I thought it meant J.D. Vance ditched his kids at a mini-golf course to go and hug his emotional support AR-15 and stare fearfully at his door and frankly I prefer that mental image.
JD Vance does not sound like the kind of guy who is gonna stay cool in a crisis.
