Hello friends. I mostly share here things intended to bring solace & a little joy.

I’ll also talk about my work (contemporary story-songs & geek-folk, interfaith, history, folklore & nonsense).

I encourage you to seek out beauty, dwell in wonder, practice kindness & be thankful (& use alt-text!)

Thank you! I’m going to my first meeting in years tomorrow. I’m taking cake & hot drinks things along because that kind of thing makes *me* feel more welcome!

Often things like this aren’t happening yet for want of someone who knows how to make it happen.

Groups lacking sufficiently tech+SocMed-savvy active members may just not know how😔

It’s a good Green habit to #OfferSolutions - I’m aiming for this myself, where I see a lack. Very best wishes!🍃

Wholly enamoured of this October project on which @tomsbrown.bsky.social & I are collaborating. Original art & words for the season, to a unique set of prompts.

It’s joy to build a little witchy rhyme each day that carries its own little tale. #poetry #witchsky

Definitely. Is there merit, I wonder, in a geographically-scattered online-only ‘local party’ framework to give otherwise-unattached members a sort of pod to engage & work with?
taliskimberley.bsky.social
Thank you!

I will revisit my GO emails and engage very soon. I’ve liked everything I’ve seen about GO 😊🍃
taliskimberley.bsky.social
>> engaged - life stuff, sorry - but I badly want to; I can’t dm here rn but my profile has my website with an email link, if useful.

(And I’m taking tea & cake to our upcoming local AGM, anyway, whether they want it or not! XD )
taliskimberley.bsky.social
I would never have guessed from your posts here that you weren’t in a large thriving group that was doing All The Things!

If GPEW don’t have someone working on new members’ welcome/engagement/integration/support, I think we really should.

Oh, & digital exclusion!

Ed, I’ve joined GO but not yet >>
taliskimberley.bsky.social
>> but we surely have to do that while building & being the fairer & more inclusive community we want.

It means matching activism for all the hardy, mobile, unencumbered confident souls with training & support & assorted roles so that everyone can contribute & be valued for what they bring.
taliskimberley.bsky.social
Thank you so much! I’ve just whooshed out here a bunch of the things I’ve wanted desperately to articulate to someone who was in a position to address them!

I realise that as apolitical party our primary aim is to win elections so that we can enact social/environmental/racial/economic justice >>
taliskimberley.bsky.social
I’m so sorry! You’re quite right, & I hope that new recommendations & training will spur all local groups to be more logistically-inclusive.

I’d like there to be national or regional online meetings so everyone has a way to connect and engage with other new & more seasoned Greens.
taliskimberley.bsky.social
Yes. Many new members have never joined a political party before. Lots of us join without much political education, how does the party work, how do elections work, door knocking is terrifying, what do I say, etc. Pub meetings aren’t comfy for all, childcare & transport excludes others.
taliskimberley.bsky.social
Choose-Your-own-Green-Adventure plan that recognises some folk will only ever be silent members *and that still counts & is appreciated* but give a range of ways for folk to get involved: activism terrifies many. Try comms, leaflet design & batching for delivery, give others lifts, do refreshments!
taliskimberley.bsky.social
Definitely not optimal! Accessible settings & varied times, not always socials in pubs, somebody bring some kids’ jigsaws or toys and a rug & make s kid-friendly area!
taliskimberley.bsky.social
New members webinar? Fab! Please, make the script or agenda or recording available to other groups who might like to replicate such a thing?
taliskimberley.bsky.social
Yes yes yes! Templates for comms & events, and hand-holding for new & would-be Officers, a Choose-Your-own-Green-Adventure for those landing where the local party is dormant or static or just too small & unresourced to act politically.

Tumbleweeders need love too!

I recommend Clever Baggers, btw, I’ve been very pleased with their products when I’ve done merch for my music.

Use the toilet at almost every opportunity! Shut the door on the world for just 2 or 3 minutes, maybe close your eyes.

Besides doing the needful, it’s a chance to reset other physical needs; wash your hands (obvs), clean your specs, brush your hair & teeth, drink a few sips from your water bottle.
taliskimberley.bsky.social
Things that are useful and worth having, made by people who aren’t being ripped off - but yes, some more merch is a good idea, for visibility as well as fundraising!
taliskimberley.bsky.social
Oho! Good stuff! That’s a listening treat for later then🍃
taliskimberley.bsky.social
Oh, that wanting and yet not wanting at the same time! 🫤

Nope, supper was lovely and now I am done. Might work in a few more ends on some squares or do a bit more sock.

The principle is sound though - most projects at some point need daytime levels of light, brain, & decision-making, & that’s what I have stacked up. It’s what Sunday afternoons are for😊

5. If I get to it (stopping for supper shortly) it’ll be the new-to-me (charity shop) dress with the weird waist that needs stitches to make it work. Tailors’ tacks, I think, and then I’ll see if I can fix it.
