Trans+ lives are under attack

Help @goodlawproject.bsky.social in the fight back to defend Trans rights:

1. Fighting Fund

2. Supreme Court Challenge

This is not a good result

Fewer than half of Your Party’s voting members voted on motions supporting Trans+ liberation

And among those who did:

• 28% voted AGAINST committing the party to defend the human rights of Trans+ people

• 32% voted AGAINST explicitly naming Trans Liberation
Quoting for alt text:

Credit where credit is due, comrades who joined Your Party said this was their intention and they achieved it.

Trans+ people of Bluesky, I need your help.

Has anyone got good photography from the Trans+ protests earlier this year where people protested topless?

I’d like to include this in the @transhistoryweek.com workbook next to our story published before about the topless protests in 1970s Milan

And even in most smaller American cities murder rates are significantly higher than in London

Take Colorado Springs: an affluent, majority-white, historically Republican and socially conservative city

The murder rate in this much less diverse city is 4-5 times higher than that of London's
A reminder that London is far safer than many major cities, that crime is falling and that racists hate both these truths because they undermine their vicious little divisive narrative.

Multiculturalism works. London works. And those who hate both things hate themselves most of all.
There were 93 homicides in London last year: population 9 million

In New York - population 8.5 million - there were
391.

London's homicide figure is 6 times lower than LA, 9 times lower than Miami, 17 times lower than Chicago.

And it's falling year on year despite the population increasing

I suspect many of us have encountered men like Dunstan - men whose rhetoric doesn’t just seek to offend but actively silences survivors of sexual violence, deterring disclosure, protecting abusers, and deepening the trauma already inflicted on their victims

Vile irrelevant little man
CW: Sexual Abuse

Just Richard Dunstan, “good friend” of the anti-trans lobby outfit Sex Matters, casually dehumanising a childhood sexual abuse survivor by suggesting the victim might have “secretly enjoyed” the abuse they endured

Transphobia rots the brain, and corrodes any sense of empathy
I thought I could not be shocked by what prominent transphobes feel able to say about me. Turns out I was wrong.

Here is Richard Dunstan, a prominent commentator closely associated with the Sex Matters charity, speculating that I enjoyed being sexually assaulted as a child.

You know you have them rattled when all they've got is childish personal insults

No trans+ people or trans-led orgs are quoted in this @theguardian.com piece, but at least it acknowledges that the current EHRC board’s ideological attempts to wipe trans+ people from public life are undermining its ability to address the real inequality and violence faced by people across the UK

Sure, well-intentioned, and fun - but Trans+ people need more than star-studded concerts

Anti-trans activists won't need events like this to advance their wipe-trans-people-from-society agenda; they already benefit from the unwavering support of the government, the judiciary, and much of the media
Wolf Alice, Beth Ditto, Adam Lambert, Sugababes and more for huge ‘Trans Mission’ charity Wembley gig

Good point

Though this is nothing new - the BBC are simply treading a well-trodden and age-old path

In the UK Adultification is a well-established and deeply concerning phenomenon that disproportionately harms marginalised and racialised children

1.
the bbc coining the phrase "teenage trans woman" in their coverage of the linehan case is driving me insane. it's so subtly revealing

Great news - and a really important step toward ensuring LGBT+ people in the EU have the same basic rights as cisgender people - as they always should
BREAKING: This is huge news, the EU's equivalent of the 🇺🇸Supreme Court's 2015 Obergefell v. Hodges ruling.

🇪🇺Court of Justice just ruled all 🇪🇺countries must recognise same-sex marriages granted in other member states.

This effectively legalises gay marriage across 🇪🇺

Here: Streeting and Labour invest £10 million into manufacturing the “evidence” they need to legitimise their cruelty towards Trans+ youth

Elsewhere, in the real world: Scientists - yet again - prove that access to Trans healthcare, including HRT, dramatically benefits Trans+ young people
1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.
Study In The Journal Of Pediatrics Finds Trans Youth Care Lowers Suicidality, Few Detransition
The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.
