This is it.

I don't know how big it is in the states but exchanging compromising material has been a long documented way that rich assholes in the UK upper class forge relationships. Being photographed and friendly with known pests is cement of mutual interests and a risk if they betray that trust
The fact that there are already incriminating photos available means at some point these people were perfectly happy to have their association with JE recorded on film.

From that stems the argument it's already a mark of prestige - or, at least, it was when they were smiling for the camera.

I was trying to remember exactly what I'd blocked Hothersall for (other than being a patronising prick) and it was a lovely exchange I had with him when he was out batting for Rachel Reeves

Your occasional reminder that Ricky Gervais posed for this, so you never have to listen to him about anything.

Or god forbid, we may have to do some paperwork. Like Westminster isn't a giant admin machine anyway.

Every single time they provaricate and try to hide behind protocol and procedure, and even the constitution (eye roll) to avoid actually removing these people from public life they are also saying we don't care if you find yourself alone in a lift with them

A precedent? God forbid!

Also, the staff in parliament are forced to work with, and effectively be subservient to, members of both Houses. So yes, for their sake as well set a precedent that people no longer have to doff their caps to abusers.
Understand Tories won't create or back a bill to remove Mandelson's peerage. There is unease among politicians in Westminster about the precedent of a government using its large majority to go after individuals, no matter how egregious. But mechanisms should still be there to expel him.

Pessimistic prediction, but:

At some point, being in the Epstein files a few times without direct evidence that you killed, fucked and ate a baby, is going to become a mark of prestige. Because enough powerful people are implicated that accepting it will be presented as realistic grown up politics.

Like, aside from their policies, rhetoric and u-turns (and that's a big aside) Labour culture is just so deeply unpleasant and condescending and in this *current climate* it just drags everyone down. Wish they'd all fuck off tbh.

Blocked Hothersall ages ago for being a patronising arsehole, but it is wild that the Labour brains think this behvaiour will somehow convince people to vote for their precious party

Just went to see No Other Choice and it is so good. Funny, satirical, visceral. Loved it.

I know how hard it is to come forward with complaints against MPs because the whole system is on their side. Hope those women are ok and hope he never knows peace.

Yes the gotchas and the attempts at satire have been pretty off-putting tbh
