It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

Long thread pointing out all the ways "heritage American" is a bullshit phrase.
The term "heritage American" being bandied about is irritating b/c of its imprecision. Is it based on length of time in the US of your ancestors, being from England, whiteness, legal citizenship, or some other unspoken category? Because the migration trends in the colonial period & early republic 1/

Getty Images and photographer Jonathon Exley need to sue.
The White House has been caught.

The administration inserted a photo of Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson, and Diana Ross into the Epstein files and falsely implied it showed them with victims.

In reality, it’s a publicly available fundraiser photo featuring Jackson and Ross’s own children.

In 1951, Barbara Rose Johns led a walkout of her segregated high school.

Now, her statue will stand in the same spot in the Capitol where Robert E. Lee's once was.

Even as this Admin tries to erase the Civil Rights struggle, we must continue the work to recognize these heroes.
Statue of Black teen who fought segregation replaces Robert E. Lee at U.S. Capitol
Barbara Rose Johns was only 16 when she led a walkout in 1951 to protest horrendous conditions at her segregated high school for Black students in rural Farmville, Virginia.

Found the names of both of my senators further down the list. Guess I get to call them up today and yell at them, 🤬
Here are the 28 Dem Senators who voted to advance the first federal ban on trans athletes & a federal definition of sex that would make trans & intersex people non-existent: Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Tammy Baldwin (WI), Richard Blumenthal (CT), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), Chris Coons (DE), ->
By a vote of 76-23, S 1071 passes the motion to proceed to the motion to concur. Won't know who voted for this until the roll call is uploaded, but safe to say it passed with the support of at least 24 members of the Democratic caucus. (Rand Paul probably voted nay and Steve Daines has been absent).

A crossover/team-up featuring Jonah Hex and Rocket Raccoon, who're chronally displaced in the Hyborian Age - only to meet and be assisted by Conan the Cimmerian and Red Sonja in order to return home.

I'd have either @simonroy.bsky.social or @farel.bsky.social, if not *both*, illustrate it.
Okay, you get to write ONE dream comic mini-series, featuring characters you did not create.

What character would you pick, and who would draw it?

Lots of great ideas in Alex Jaffe's original thread, but of course I have to highlight a Hex shoutout. I also want an addendum that DC finally reprint ALL of Michael Fleisher's work, including the Jonah Hex Spectacular. Also reprint Albano & DeZuniga's "Zany" Hex parody because it's hilarious.

On the back of the photograph she wrote:

‘Judah lives forever,’ so the light answers.”

The light will continue to answer the darkness. Happy Hanukkah.

A reminder that most Americans who are life-long citizens have nothing OTHER than a Real ID to prove their citizenship. This is CBP’s chief enforcer saying that ID doesn’t count.
Bovino, the man overseeing mass deportations, publicly declared that we must all have our papers on us, at all times, or we could be stopped, harassed, kidnapped, and detained, as they did with the man in this case, who is a US citizen.
