Entryism is an attempt to change an existing organization to a new set of principals and has a history of failure. But engaging in big tent demonstrations and trying to convince attendees to consider your organization's line is not that. The only way it'd become problematic is disrupting speakers.
Not really in my experience. Sure a small minority of liberals treat you as competition, but the vast majority of people there are interested in hearing the full spectrum of beliefs that agree with the core ideas. And I really disagree with categorizing attending a public protest as entryism.
I think its an active need for communists/socialists to show up. With yes their own signs, slogans, and chants. And their own next steps. No Kings brings out an important part of the masses who need to be brought into struggle with the parts of the masses not there. Communists should be the bridge.
And if socialists and communists want to show up I think they should but I think they should try to use their signs and chants to make it clear it’s not kings it’s capital and capitalists.
It's hilarious that is basically what the guest Argentina "expert" Bloomberg's Oddlots podcast was arguing almost verbatim. All while of course saying the Argentine center-left were corrupt vote buyers while never mentioning Millei's crypto scams
Laziest possible way to be unique is just make obvious mistakes literally everyone else is smart enough to avoid
Alright, have you considered trying duck duck go? Works fine when I use it.
I mean if it was just "yeah it doesn't really save much time if you're using all the tools for fact checking but I like it anyways" the answer would be "seems weird but nbd". But given inference has higher electricity costs than prior search options that means use is imposing negative externalities.

The science is getting stronger in the "social media is rotting kids brains" direction. And the discussion part of the study is interesting. They've got a guess this is because social media distracts from educational stuff.
Discussion

This analysis found that both low and high increases in social media use throughout early adolescence were significantly associated with lower performance in specific aspects of cognitive function, supporting a prior finding that greater screen time was negatively but weakly associated with adolescent cognitive performance.5 Overall, the differences in mean scores were small relative to the NIH Toolbox standard deviation of 15. *highlighted*Previous literature has hypothesized that social media use replacing more educational activities or schoolwork may explain the association between social media use and lower cognitive performance.6 The specific associations between increasing social media use and poorer performance on the ORRT and PVT, which tests stored language knowledge, support this hypothesis.*end highlighted* The finding that even low levels of early adolescent social media exposure were linked to poorer cognitive performance may suggest support for stricter age restrictions. Limitations of this study include self-reported social media data, potential residual confounding, and an observational study design that precludes inferring that social media trajectories cause worse cognitive performance. Future studies should examine how specific social media platforms and content relate to cognitive outcomes.

Palestine’s most popular leader, Marwan Barghouti, was beaten unconscious and has his ribs broken by Israeli prison guards and his family fears for his life, his son has said, citing evidence given by former Palestinian detainees released this week as part of the ceasefire deal.

Yeah I'd generally call that kind of response emotionally immature. I would however make exceptions for clearly bigoted views. Got dumb tax or transit ideas? Have a discussion. Think racist or anti-LGBT policies sound good? OK the immaturity is on the original poster then.
To use an example, if I'm insulting a political figure who has spent years advocating an awful position, that can make sense given reasoned argument has been tried by many and clearly made no difference. If its a one off though, I can't be confident the person knows why they're wrong.
The specific case though where this is the least mature is the one described here (mostly silent agreement, rare insults) which is different from the general case of disagreement. Though I do think some of that may come from attempts to be funny in posting in ways that don’t land with the audience.
Right, I'd probably put it as a question of emotional maturity. So its not strange or out of the ordinary to me someone would do 99% silent assent 1% insults, just a sign someone is bad at handling the 1% disagreement. Unless its joke anger over stuff like food preferences or sports rivalries.
Oh yeah at my current rent I'd get 1/3rd of the size in a shittier part of town. But damn it'd be nice if the cool parts of my city stretched for more than a mile around me!
Like I could get a better city there, but would I get as good of friends, job, and family?

Probably not!

So I guess I need my city to become more New York like.
An annoying aspect of living in a high density, transit accessible area of the country AND knowing about NYC is always feeling like you're getting the 3rd tier NYC experience.

I would move there, but I've gone through all this effort of building a real life where I'm at and would have to start over
There's a whole "wow lots of women here, must be low status effeminancy vibe happening" that kick in for some many guys. Toxic masculinity is a bitch
Hamas 2 folks have some actual belief in the cause and would never leak...unless there was a really messy break up
To a degree yeah it is (even moreso realizing its a pattern of behavior going all the way to being buds with the nation's most famous pedophile), though it is also the reality that a huge portion of the populace doesn't seek out political news at all.
Trump really out here saying Charlie should've dodged better
Trump at the Charlie Kirk memorial event: "They fired sniper rifles at ICE agents, and me. But I made a turn at a good time. I made a turn at a good time. Charlie couldn't believe it, actually."
To be clear, I'm not talking impressions but the hard data we have for our organization based on dozens of events annually with close to a decade tracked in our database. But the main limit being we're a community charity so no insights on for-profits or informal meet-ups.
My work is a non-profit and that's not far off the gender breakdowns we get in events and volunteer activities we run (might be closer to 3:1 for volunteering). Wouldn't be surprised if that generalizes.
