Just had an onion in the eyes moment as I can see the dawn sun starting to nudge its way up again after a very dark last 2 years

Lots more fight to go even after the 2026 elections
The Far Right have really had their nuts in the vice the last week and this is the latest turn of the screw

Reading that page: OUCH the Judge with that language against the Minister basically kicked the Minister in the nuts at full force!
We won! I won my judicial review!

This could be the nail in the Coalition coffin⚰️🤞

The only "positives" they've been able to cling onto has been inflation and interest rates falling (both entirely NOT as a result of their policies) and now that's ticking back up

Two more banks raise longer term mortgage rates
All the big four banks have now raised longer term mortgage rates in the past week or so, despite the OCR being cut further in late November.

For the record, I don’t support a social media age ban.

Leaving aside that it won’t work, and it will cause negative externalities by having kids hide illegal activities and being less likely to talk to parents about such, not to mention impacting queer kids more, it’s a sop for real regulation.

I recently wrote a piece on how China's oil demand would be dropping more than the big analysis groups are forecasting and one big reason was the electrification of trucking.

"China’s rapid electrification of heavy-duty trucks — potentially reducing diesel demand by up to ~2 Mb/d.."

What kind of person feels hard done by when those with nothing slightly approach pay levels that reflect human decency? Not only have I never felt this or known anyone else to feel this, it was actually beyond my wildest imagination before I saw this.

These people are bizarre anti-humans.
Absolutely fuck all the way off with this shit. What a ghoulish thing to say.

#NZ Cutting the flu tracking service 😔

- it seems a weird thing to cut given it’s not a "big budget" item
- if you’ve read on pandemic planning you’d know this is the sort of thing we need to step *up*, not drop. Feels like cutting off your nose to spite your face
Plan to ditch flu tracking tool will leave big data gap, epidemiologist says
The Ministry of Health is not renewing its contract for the FluTracking tool, which surveys about 40,000 people year-round, in a bid to cut costs.

Closing after 6 months & 200 cones removed, costing Kiwis ~$750 per cone (and they gutted Worksafe - putting real lives at risk!)
