I wish it didn’t feel so unusual and inspiring to see a leader treating everyone like they matter and saying that we have a responsibility to help each other
Combatting poverty and hunger in this city will take every single one of us. Myself included.

If you’re dining at an establishment and order a Coke but they have Pepsi products, your drink should be free.

I feel like I would exercise that executive authority if I were a server in a Pepsi joint: “Pepsi’s not okay? Drink’s on me.”

(This, of course, is Reason #8,474 why I am not a server.)

Two National Guard members have been shot and killed in Washington, DC.

They shouldn’t even have been there.
Whether this was random street crime or targeted political violence, I think it was bad for the president to unnecessarily put the National Guard in harm’s way like this. They simply don’t need to be there.

Welp. Looks like the cheaters might get their way in Indiana after all.

This Congressional redistricting nonsense is an act of desperation by a flailing, deeply unpopular President and a failing, lackey Governor.
Indiana House returning next week to address redistricting; Senate to join Dec. 8 • Indiana Capital Chronicle
Indiana House members will return to the Statehouse next week in an apparent attempt to force action on President Donald Trump’s demands for congressional redistricting in the state.

All DOGE accomplished was purging critical government staff, handing private data to outsiders, and sentencing thousands in developing countries to death by gutting USAID.

I don’t say this lightly: if there were any justice in this world, the people responsible for this devastation would be in jail
DOGE 'doesn't exist' with eight months left on its charter
U.S. President Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency has disbanded with eight months left to its mandate.

Hey, chat — let’s say I’m trying to protect my soul from the darkness of my very low, yet still unmet, expectations of my fellow humans.

Is there anything I actually need to know about the Nuzzi/Lizza situation, or can I just continue to walk in the privilege of my ignorance of this specific thing?

I just moved the LinkedIn app from my home screen (where it has lived, somewhat over-ambitiously, for the last 12 months) to my Games folder (because the only thing I do with it is play those dumb little LinkedIn games each morning after I play my dumb little NYT games).

I just remembered that in my waking-up dream today, everyone on the cruise I was on was abuzz because they’d paid $3700 for a meet-and-greet with Janet Jackson. I followed the crowd and learned that they were not meeting Actual Janet Jackson, but rather an internet-famous parrot named Janet Jackson.
