Indianapolis Hoosier. Bon vivant. Christian, but pretty bad at it. Likes sweaters, arugula, compassion. Hates waiting, romaine, injustice. Is really proud of you. (he/him)
I then proceeded to run my songs in my parked car until two — TWO! — MHPD vehicles approached and shared that a neighbor had called them to report me. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I guess two things can be true:

1. We are grateful for neighbors keeping an eye on the church.

2. Come on. 🙄

Then, once the driveway was relatively clean, I used the circle drive (circle #2!) to turn my car around and head back into the parking lot.

Once in the parking lot, I followed the direction of the lanes and circled around to my parking spot (CIRCLE #3!!!!!!).

When I arrived at the church for a rehearsal this evening, I noticed some branches had been blown down from the old trees, so I drove to the parking lot and back (circle #1) to point my car facing out to put my headlights on the branches so I could sweep them off the driveway.

Oh! I hope the reporting I heard on the radio at 4:30 was incorrect!

Indiana Democrats’ and responsible Republicans’ messaging should be:

• If you have to cheat to win, you’re a fucking loser.

• We have to protect the elections, including whatever laws we can enact by the end of the session to ensure Diego Morales doesn’t fuck it up as court cases unfold.

So whatever map the Indiana General Assembly approves better be airfriggin’tight and legally unassailable, or each person who votes for it is voting for a year of electoral chaos and, conceivably, the dismantling of Indiana’s governmental institutions.

Secretary of State Diego Morales will almost certainly poop the bed, election-management-wise, and then it’s chaos on Election Day.

If you were trying to convince me that THAT is what Trump really wants — electoral chaos — it would take me less than half a second to subscribe to your newsletter.

And the thing is, if they *do* pass a redistricted map that is so obviously and maliciously designed to disenfranchise voters (particularly voters of color), it will necessarily be challenged in the legal system, which will necessarily delay everything.

Also, RIP to the holiday weekend of the Legislative Services staff at the Indiana General Assembly. Prob'ly gonna have to work through the weekend to get ready for this nonsense.

Did I mention this is just nonsense?

Perhaps the Indiana Senate will surprise us, and they're just convening on December 8 to concede to the request of the Governor, but they won't vote for mid-decade redistricting, as they've previously said the votes aren't there.

We can only hope. Literally.

I appreciate that Sen. Bray and Rep. Huston, as leaders of their respective bodies in the Indiana General Assembly, are in a tight spot.

Gosh, on one side, they've got hotheaded morons hellbent on doing whatever it takes to win and, on the other side is actually, you know, doing the right thing.

Every time I get an unsolicited text "from" James Carville, my blood absolutely boils. Sometimes I reply...unkindly.

That man needs to just sit down over there and be sitting down over there.
