I think the fact that these things fry people’s brains, drive people to suicide, are being marketed as a replacement for people’s jobs, literally cannot make money no matter how many people use them, and will only try to wring more money out of an increasingly poor populace might drive some backlash

Yeah... the amount of times I have to manually retype things (even with autocorrect turned off) has gotten out of hand.

Despite being a "tech person" my whole life, I'm starting to question even keeping a smartphone anymore.

Spell check is integrating AI all over the place, it's also why a lot of keyboards' autocorrect and grammar checking has gotten WAY worse

this goes right along with my theory that the AI obsession in *users* is often bc…

1. they were never educated (esp "ipad generation") & don't know how computers work

2. our tools and services are all SO AWFUL NOW, degraded at best, actively user-hostile at worst
Mariya Delano @mariyadelano@hachyderm.io I've been testing a theory: many people who are high on #AI and #LLMs are just new to automation and don't realize you can automate processes with simple programming, if/then conditions, and API calls with zero Al involved. So far it's been working! Whenever I've been asked to make an Al flow or find a way to implement Al in our work with a client, I've returned back with an automation flow that uses 0 Al. Things like "when a new document is added here, add a link to it in this spreadsheet and then create a task in our project management software assigned to X with label Y". And the people who were frothing at the mouth at how I must change my mind on Al have (so far) all responded with resounding enthusiasm and excitement. They think it's the same thing. A thing that really bugs me about the iOS swipe keyboard is that I'm set for Australian English everywhere, but when I write words, swiping correctly, it spells them in American English. Then it marks them misspelt. 😫

4 frame comic. the first frame shows a tangram swan. text reads : they call it "aI", but large language models (llm) such as chatbots are far from intelligent: they are pattern- recognition machines that churn out whatever might sound like a reply to the thing you last said. 2nd frame shows inside a data center. text reads : that distinction matters, because the technology for actual aI simply doesn't exist. the only way for llm to get better is to feed it more data, transiting in bigger polluting data centers, scavenged always deeper into our devices. 3rd frame shows a child blowing bubbles. text reads : but once the whole internet has been fed to their llm, how can these companies promise neverending growth to their shareholders? that's what makes "AI" a bubble, kept afloat by circular investments and hype. 4th frame shows a chatbot logo. text reads : llms need us to keep interacting and coming back in order to grow. they are sycophantic by design. they amplify delusions and will never disagree with you or challenge your worldview. it's ripping apart communities for a few billionaires' hubris.

It appears the Al tool assigned diagnosis code F32.9 (Depressive disorder, unspecified), while your visit notes and treatment plan reference lumbar disc herniation (back pain). Per compliance policy, certain Al-generated fields cannot be manually updated by clinic staff and require vendor correction. We have escalated this to our vendor support team and opened ticket # . We'll notify you once we receive confirmation or correction from the vendor.
