Good for Berman. More of this please
BERMAN: Would it be legal for police in Arkansas to kill suspected drug dealers on a boat in a lake?

TOM COTTON: The premise of your question is not well-founded

BERMAN: The answer is no. It would not be legal to kill them.

This is why, every time I hear weak-knee Dems or Dem pundits/consultants talking about how they can appeal to Trump voters, I get irrationally angry. The goal isn’t to embrace racists and fascists. The goal is to provide the alternative that lets voters kick racists and fascists into the wilderness.
It has long been clear that unalloyed racism lies at the core of Trumpism, and he is becoming increasingly explicit about this.

I want them to face real consequences. I want the Nazis to hurt. I want every far-right extremist currently posting openly about their bigotry to never again know a moment’s peace.
there are more of us than there are of them and we will scare the nazis back into cover of darkness in my lifetime

It might be easy to find things like this merely petty or superficial, but that would be a mistake. Demeaning, erasing or eliminating celebrations or acknowledgments of Black America is straight from Redemption playbook, and is intended to reinforce the racial hierarchy and signal its reinstatement.

and there you have it folks: the real reason Hollywood is dying: mergers.

it wasn't the strikes. it wasn't DEI.

these mergers are killing our jobs, killing our pipelines, killing our creativity, our product, our income. everything.

we're at the endgame. it's up to us to find alternatives now.

Film exploded in the 60s through the 90s was because there was a healthy ecosystem of independent theaters that could book screenings for non-studio films. It's how Roger Corman built an empire that gave some of our greatest filmmakers and performers their first jobs. That is near impossible now.

Good luck making any subversive or inflammatory works that would resonate with the general public. If you can't get it on Amazon, Netflix, or Apple, 99% of the audience won't be able to see it. That's by design.

The core reason streamers want to take down theaters is because they're historically one of the best avenues for independent films to find their audiences. The goal is to control 100% of the production to distribution pipeline, so that only a few dozen people control the majority of media available.

worth saying that some portion of the freed slaves were themselves illegal aliens having been brought illegally into the united states by smugglers. if the birthright clause applies to them, it applies to undocumented immigrants
Here is the question presented. It's a relatively clean vehicle for the Supreme Court to finally decide whether it is lawful for the president to deny birthright citizenship to the children of immigrants. www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/25...

To say this for the 50th time, for anyone who doesn't know:

Three young conservative lawyers were part of the GOP "Florida recount" team that led to GWB becoming president, via Bush-v-Gore.

They were: John Roberts. Brett Kavanaugh. Amy Coney Barrett.

The current Supreme Court has forfeited all legitimacy.

Democrats (and everyone) need to address that reality.

John Roberts > Roger Taney.

Court needs to expand. And have fixed terms—like *every* other supreme court in developed world. And have ethics rules, like all normal organizations.
