Imagine Scooby Doo saying "Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori". It would be terrible. In fact, I don't think that Scooby Doo should read any war poems out loud. He can respect the fallen in other ways.

All my admiration to the great @robinince.bsky.social, watching this guy quote James Baldwin and Audrey Lorde as he resigns from the BBC in solidarity with trans people makes me want to stand up and cheer
Robin Ince reveals to last night’s audience at a recording of Infinite Monkey Cage that the BBC has forced him to resign over his support of trans people

What’s wild about this is the more liberal end of management think forcing presenters like Ince & Lineker out will placate the headbangers when in reality these people will not stop until the BBC is stripped for the copper wiring and sold
Very sad that I felt I had no choice but to resign from The Infinite Monkey Cage - a victory for the transphobes and other bigots - I did it because so much of the media has chosen to believe the kind and empathetic people are a fiction - they are real and so often unrepresented.

Robin is most principled, compassionate person I know and this is awful. This is where we are in 2025. Shame on the BBC.

It is obscene that Ince has been forced out of his non-news, non-politics-focused role at the BBC for opinions like "trans people should not be eliminated". Fucking monstrous.

If I was head of the WI and an 80 year old trans woman told me it was the only place she'd ever felt respected as a woman, and the British State told me she wasn't allowed to bebin the WI any more, I'd be putting out a public statement declaring the WI to now be an armed guerilla organisation.
This part is *infuriating*. This cis woman heard an 80 year old trans woman say, 'This is the only place I've been respected as a woman IN MY LIFE.'

And did not immediately think, 'I will fight every inch like a dying badger to keep her in my organization.'

Absolutely pathetic.

The more I think about this, the worse it feels. Richard Dunstan, that "good friend" of Sex Matters, is suggesting I enjoyed being raped as a child.
I thought I could not be shocked by what prominent transphobes feel able to say about me. Turns out I was wrong.

Here is Richard Dunstan, a prominent commentator closely associated with the Sex Matters charity, speculating that I enjoyed being sexually assaulted as a child.

Always amazes me that the first film to have a hunchbacked lab assistant named Igor helping the mad scientist was Young Frankenstein in 1971, and even that didn't have the lisping Igor voice we all know Igor definitely has.
