Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. If there is no struggle, there is no progress.

Through its knee-jerk attack on a prominent Black woman, I wonder whether the Mail has found a deeper truth.

How many, through reading the Mail, became so toxic their children and grandchildren no longer enjoy seeing them? How many readers are asking themselves 'will this be me?'

my great-grandparents arrived in the UK in the 1890s with nothing.
they sold pickles from the front room window, took in laundry, worked as tailors.
their children were nurses, teachers, salesmen.
their grandchildren were professors, designers, opticians, doctors, magistrates, entrepreneurs.
This is so disgusting.

Everyone involved knows Mel is a virulently racist fascist lunatic with horrendous views on the use of massive, murderous violence against civilians. But there she still is on Sky News, because her crackpottery is well within acceptable opinion, for our political/media class.

It is incredible to me how made up this issue is. No one gave a shit ten years ago. Sure there were your individual mad, ignorant bigots but *Theresa May* was pushing for self-ID because it was the last little bit of logistical sorting out of a settled question: we're ok with Trans people

Good to see society can be reduced to people who either "give" or "take".

Is it healthy that the people who run government see the people they govern that way?
This is so disgusting.

Who has the hiring and firing power over the set-piece coach at Liverpool is an interesting question. I'm guessing from his comments it's not Arne Slot and he's rightfully a bit pissed off with how badly they are costing us this season.

I agree, but: if the main reason you are in power now is that the national press kicked seventeen shades of shit out of all your internal and external opponents and repeated every word of the drivel and horseshit you sent them as God’s honest truth, then this is just too bad.

What would happen if we ever had a government that was inclined to be at least somewhat transparent about what we did in the War On Terror, or what exactly was going on at RAF Akrotiri on Cyprus between 2023 and 2025? And you’ll see why it’s imperative that such a thing is never allowed to happen.

When you see stuff like this, you should ask yourself: what would happen if a PM was ever elected who was not 100% reliably One Of The Lads, and he or she asked to see the Northern Ireland files from the 1970s? What then.

This will de facto break down along racialised lines as much as class lines. And let's not pretend that isn't largely the point, whatever ministers tell the country, and indeed themselves.
