Yes. And this is why analyses that focus singularly on greed as a motivation for oppression fall short. This will flush millions down the toilet and to them it's worth it to uphold and empire and protect zionism.

If you're a Canadian who lived outside of Quebec and purchased bread from Loblaw's between 2001 and 2021, you can get compensation AND stick it to the Westons if you submit a claim before December 12th.

The world needs young people who are engaged with the world. Who speak out through art & music. Who tell the truth with art & music. Dictators throughout history have known that art is dangerous to them.

And that's why, as I said in the post, making art (of any kind) is more important than ever.

So yes, of course, learning to do new things, especially creative things is important at any age but there is a real & unprecedented urgency at this time for art to make a difference & especially to have the voices of young people heard.

We need to be really aware of the danger of this. GenAI is a tool of oppression & conformity. When all art looks & sounds the same, it has no impact to change the world.

Woke up to a billion notifications on this.

I'd like to clarify. As MANY point out, you are NEVER too old to do these things.

My phrasing is specifically directed at young people because I see so many who are falling into the I'll get AI to do it trap. (And yes, old people too)

I'm old.

If you're not, listen to this.

Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder.

Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever.

It's literally never been more important.

I like linguine the most but sometimes the brand is a little too wide...It has to be a certain width.

I cannot eat penne lisce. It's gotta be rigate. I like fusilli. A lot of my family members like rigatoni and the big fave is bucatini.

I am meh about those but will eat them.
a second day of the same discourse? no. no thank you.

instead I need you to name your least favorite pasta shape

This is why OpenAI is selling so aggressively to education at all levels—they want to create entire generations of users incapable of reading, writing and thinking without ChatGPT to hold their hands

And teachers and professors should call this out for what it actually is
To bear out this rosy projection, HSBC assumes that OpenAI will become "as ubiquitous [...] as Microsoft 365" (345mm users worldwide) while bringing in 10x the number of users (3bn).

There are two methods for cranberry harvest- wet method and dry method. Pictured is the ‘wet harvest’ method where the cranberry bog is flooded and the plants are shaken to dislodge the submerged berries, which float. (Fun fact: in a flooded bog the workers become high ground for the spiders.)

You can tell when a person is eating their heart out. I've seen many instances lately with such bitterness and anger towards writers. It's rather blatant to me now.

Canada made weird tv shows because it was all being done with government funded art grant money so they fell in this wacky middle ground between “shoestring budget” and “no expectation to generate shareholder value” which is really the best way to make art

Somebody who I won't name 😉 had me on Fleetwood Mac all day...but adjacently it's this Lindsey Buckingham song that is one of my all time favourites. Just 😍 I have a few songs that I think are super romance and this is on that list.

I'm glad I got see FM a few years ago.

This is useful for people who are getting into trad publishing.
I'm going to do a little thread on how the money from books works for traditionally published authors because people have questions, and this is always useful info to share IMO. First, a big disclaimer that every contract is different, and there are a million factors that can change things. 1/
