I loved Devastator. , although he was sort of janky to move (later combiners felt more sturdy) but yeah, it was weird to have Lamborghinis and Ferraris outsize a cement mixer and a dump truck. Fortress Maximus was the first transformer I remember who felt like he had any real scale.
