I am a pediatric ICU physician. I am filled with dread knowing viruses and bacteria will provide the education to families who don't vaccinate their children. And the cost will be dear.

Reminder: you can get MMR and DTaP boosters at most pharmacies without a prescription. If you get it this week, you could have a nice antibody titer for the holidays! 🎁🎁
Kentucky has lost three babies to pertussis, or whooping cough, along with two in Louisiana and two in Texas. The pertussis vaccine, given in combination with vaccines against diphtheria and tetanus, is safe and lifesaving.
PAHO warns of whooping cough vaccination gap

Pertussis vaccination coverage dropped during the COVID-19 pandemic, with 87% coverage in the region for the first dose.

Missing my grandma who used to stop everything she was doing if she heard someone criticize vaccines because so many of her childhood friends slowly disappeared after they got polio, and ask people if “surviving” polio was really a positive outcome or if they had no idea what they were talking about
This whole so-called “parents rights” movement the right has taken up and the left is supposed to kowtow to for votes is so obviously anti-child it really bothers me to see it presented as anything other than justification for abusive “parenting” and disregard for actual science on child development

All over my FB people talking about their bad experiences with shingles vax and dissuading each other from getting it! We need to give people real info on how to mitigate the symtoms caused by vaccines because vaccines are always better than meeting a virus unprepared. Yet drs aren't coaching ppl

Here’s the thing, emerging scientists aren’t going to flee to do science elsewhere…they just won’t do the science.

We will lose at least one, if not two generations of knowledge if we don’t get this shit sorted out immediately.
My teen, who had dreamt of being an astrophysicist, just told me he wants to go to law school because, “Science isn’t going to be a priority in the US in the future…I don’t want a job where I’ll be constantly worried my funding will be taken away.”

Gutting. How many future scientists have we lost?

This is all-hands on deck. RFK Jr. wants to destroy vaccination in the US. COVID and HBV vaccination were the first step. These diseases WILL come back. And your personal vaccination status is important, but so is the coverage in your community. So up your game and fight. www.vox.com/2015/3/25/82...

I know there's a lot of news but if you can tear yourself away from the CDC vaccine committee today — you should really read this series on how the Trump administration has upended science in just 10 months, from my incredibly talented colleagues:

American Science, Shattered
An eight-decade partnership between universities and the federal government made U.S. science preeminent. It took Trump less than a year to shred that

Again, there is no plan for running our universities without federal funding, or foreign students, at scale. But the public has no idea about this because no. one. is. telling. them. this. They expect their kids are still going to be able to do all the things at college in the next 4 years, & well:
The entire business model of R1 public universities rests on 4 revenue sources:

1. Federal grants
2. Private gifts/endowments
3. Tuition (esp. from foreign students)
4. State $

For decades, 📈 in 1-3 offset a secular 📉 in 4. Now, 1 & 3 are being decimated & 4 ain't coming back. The math is clear.

Entire creation of new data that has no bearing upon any histological relevance. Remember LLM models are not open and we have no understanding of what NeuN, GFAP, or DAPI means in biological space within the LLM.

This is nonsense. But it looks at first blush as "real" to the uninformed.

Scary.

wth?!
How is nursing, psychology, pathology, clinical assistance, etc. not considered a professional degree???

They are doing this to make it harder for people to get student loans.

This administration is so awful. I cannot stand them.

Nursing is no longer counted as a 'professional degree' by Trump admin
