the bbc changed their article from saying 'trans woman' to saying 'biological male who identifies as a woman'.

even if you don't care about trans ppl it should alarm you just how captured the bbc has become.

they will no longer even say 'trans woman'. that's not normal and shows massive bias.

I'm probably not doing Christmas cards this year, as it's been a bad year healthwise and I am flaming knackered.

Some of you will probably pipe up and say "surely you're simply flaming?". And I will thank you for your service to comedy.

Were they arrested for blocking the road? Or is it OK to block the road, prevent the movement of emergency vehicles and generally cause a stinking nuisance, as long as you’re in a massive gas guzzling tractor, and not Extinction Rebellion sitting peacefully in the road? We should be told

the invasion of Afghanistan is among the most horrific recent chapters of the long history of elite impunity in the US. this coda is grim but fitting - the govt practically explicitly affirming that it should only be Afghans who live with the consequences amid fading public memory of the atrocity
It didn’t even take 6 hours.

Man, the mansion tax is a good idea, but I'm still hoping that if the planning liberalisation actually passes that they instead replace council tax with a progressive tax on the property value

Then you'd actually get a working market shaped to benefit the nation

The amount of illegal this is is a lot.
SCOOP—In August, nearly 200 current/former FEMA staffers published the Katrina Declaration, a whistleblower letter detailing all the dangers posed by current leadership.

All current employees were put on indefinite leave, and now I've learned one has been fired in violation of federal protections:
FEMA employee terminated for signing whistleblower letter
It appears to be a major violation of federal whistleblower protections and constitutional rights.

I can't speak for what was said at the protests, but seeing people react to an anodyne statement like "sacred spaces should not be used to promote activities in violation of international law" as if it were a vicious slur is clarifying.
Zohran Mamdani chastised a Manhattan synagogue that hosted an event promoting migration to Israel and settlements in occupied territories. His stance further tested his strained relationship with pro-Israel Jews in New York.

Structure within the major dust tail from the comet is clearly visible, together with two smaller jets trailing the nucleus and maybe even an anti-tail.

The Centre for Cities @centreforcities.bsky.social have proposed a zoning system for UK planning, where if you meet local plan requirements and national building regs, permission is automatic and not discretional

Do the present reforms do that? Language so convoluted, opaque I can't work it out!!!
