They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

Originalism did not exist until the late 1960’s & early 1970’s as a reactionary response to the advances in civil rights for women & minorities.

It’s a made up doctrine designed to arrest progress in a document whose drafters included two methods of revising itself.
Very few provisions on the Constitution have a meaning as readily and definitively discernible from text and history as the Citizenship Clause. All credible evidence leads to the same place. If self-proclaimed originalists can’t get this one right, they discredit the entire project of originalism.

it's so soft, barely any flags, and it's so sinister by being so incongruously soft. Surely forced patriotism should be more in your face, apparently not.

I regret this bitterly but someone must inform this young man about the tyrannical dominion of the billable hour.
My teen, who had dreamt of being an astrophysicist, just told me he wants to go to law school because, “Science isn’t going to be a priority in the US in the future…I don’t want a job where I’ll be constantly worried my funding will be taken away.”

Gutting. How many future scientists have we lost?
