Timely reminder that there is copious evidence that The Game Awards suck, and that the people who make it suck. Therefore if you watch it, you suck too!

Two things can be true: 1.) The Game Awards are meaningless and we shouldn't take them all that seriously. 2.) Award shows of its scale DO rewrite the mainstream history of the art form, whether they deserve to or not, and its okay to care that it's so thoughtless despite having that responsibility.

In case you writers out there have ever felt imposter syndrome, "From his mouth the bullet theoretical launched the bullet possible" is an actual sentence in whatever this is.
Vanity Fair's West Coast Editor Olivia Nuzzi was a star political correspondent until scandal led her into exile—and to a California up in flames.

In an excerpt from her book, ‘American Canto,’ she takes stock of scorched earth.

She flamed out and she faded away. 'Vanity Fair'’s West Coast Editor returns to the written word to survey scorched earth.

This is bullshit.

"absolutely no genAI in games" is the middle ground.

"how many years in jail should Sam Altman get for knowingly stealing all data ever" is the somewhat more extreme stance I personally adopt.
"Surely there's a middle ground here?" The CEO of Helldivers 2 studio Arrowhead says people "jump to extreme takes" when debating generative AI, and that there needs to be more nuance in the discussion.

Make bad art. Make uncertain art. Make indifferent art. Make confused, and confusing, art. Make uninspired art. Making bad art is the essential and irreplaceable aspect of making great art, next time
make bad art because some of the worst people you know are making even worse art and literally nothing you make will be that bad.
make bad art!!! it's better than making no art!!!

Whatever in the nine hells did we learn during COVID and how in the flying spaghetti monster do you forget that?!

The AI bubble may be about to bust.

Peter Thiel has sold all of his Nvidia stock.

We all need to say this very clearly:

NO BAILOUTS FOR THEFT-TECH!

Expropriate their asses instead.

They stole from all of us and fully plan to burn the planet.

They owe us - not the other way around. 1/3

Once again, I have to point out how obviously inorganic the entire anti-trans backlash is. A handful of billionaires are astroturfing the whole thing with enormous amounts of cash.
They're actively paying people to complain now...

I literally just had my yearly check-in and recertification in October. I am disabled, can't work, and am on SSI. I can't afford my medically mandated diet without SNAP, and reapplying is a lot of work, which is made harder by my disability and poor health. This is maddening.
