To all those saying about the recent decisions by the Girl Guides and WI that “it’s the law”, remember that Section 28 was also the law once and is now seen as a shameful and embarrassing part of recent history.

Just had to entirely reformat an 11-page knitting pattern to two columns and a sensible typeface, so that I could actually follow it. There were benefits to professionals doing this stuff in the olden days.

I’m gonna keep sharing these ovarian cancer symptoms whenever I see them.

I will add - from personal experience - diarrhoea and fatigue.

Get it checked! Remember, there’s no routine screening for ovarian cancer.

Mindboggling: how some of the most vulnerable people in Britain face what can only be described as outrageous abuse by the private providers whom the NHS outsources critical care services like wheelchairs to.

Westway, to me, sounds like one of those 1960s progressive and slightly abstract or conceptual names (down with avenues, roads and streets!), a bit like Midsummer Boulevard. But the small bit of A40 between Wood Lane and Old Oak Road was already called Westway. Map undated but 1950s at the latest.

Cover of the day: from 1968, here is the Cement and Concrete Association’s brochure on the Western Avenue Extension aka Westway. It was published two years prior to the opening of the Westway, so it’s all artists’ impressions:

Somewhere in a Roman brickyard, around 1800 years ago, a fresh tile was drying ahead of firing - until a dog trotted straight across it.
Centuries later, the tile has made it into a museum: not because of an emperor, but thanks to one dog who accidentally walked his way into history.🧵1/2

Ok, so I forgot to reopen my webshop after the market on Sunday because I was grandparenting for 36 hrs, didn't do a stocktake, was reminded, (thx @professorunwin.bsky.social) did a rapid one this morning and am open again. I think it's correct. Arghhhhhhhhh
