I mean we should also be continuing to hammer how Noem is a puppy-killer and Trump is the only pet-hating president ever, too

I have long believed that we should be WAY more vocal about how police and ICE constantly murder dogs, and I think this is great messaging actually.

The reality is that you can mobilize a whole lot of usually tuned-out Americans around a “someone is being mean to hecking doggos” cause.

“This heckin’ pupperino fucking hates La Migra,” to paraphrase from @weratedogs.com

This is Chop. He was shot and killed by masked assailants in plain clothes who go by ICE. They showed up at his door "looking for migrants after receiving a tip." The son of the family asked if they could wait before entering the home while he put Chop away in the bathroom, as the dog can be aggressive with strangers.
According to the family, it is at this point that the son went to his pickup truck to retrieve his ID and a Border Patrol agent entered the home, opened the bathroom door, and shot Chop. None of the agents helped the family, who desperately tried to render aid to Chop, as he bled to death on the kitchen floor. Unsurprisingly, the agent who shot their dog then hid from them and refused to give his name. Even more unsurprising, they did not find any evidence of the migrants they were there to terrorize in the first place.
Do not open your door for these fucking losers. Rest easy Chop

Amid all the plaudits of Trump for getting this deal done, I've yet to see mention of the fact that Netanyahu has turned the Israeli govt into an arm of the Republican Party and manages relations with the US administration in power at any given time accordingly.
bonniehonig.bsky.social
Hamas agreed to this same deal by Dec 2024. But “Baskin would soon learn that the Israelis had no intention of striking any agreement before a change of administration in Washington…”
Reminiscent of Reagan/Carter and a different hostage release…

CDC had worked for decades to overcome the fear of government research created by the US Public Health Service's participation in the Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis. Robust protections for human subjects for the basis of that effort. Gutting the CDC IRB is dangerous in so many different ways.

How about you don't agree to fund fascism and vocally support impeachment?

We promise that would be a very popular stance for you to take.

The American people know that Republicans shut down the government.

Democrats want to open it up immediately.

And decisively address the Republican healthcare crisis.

The whites are literally arguing it's literally *unconstitutional* if they're not OVERREPRESNTED in Congress.

Just so everyone is clear, the main issue in the Supreme Court voting rights case tomorrow is whether it's racist against white people to enforce the Voting Rights Act.

I'm dead serious. We live in incredibly stupid times.

This is a complete failure to read the room. It is incompetent. It is political malpractice. The DSCC has clearly learned nothing, and they would rather deploy the same tired, divisive strategies instead of empowering Democratic voters and earning our confidence in their process.

It is wildly inappropriate for the DSCC to jump into a competitive primary in such a brazen and shameless way, eight months before voters go to the polls.

Universities won’t fire tenured professors for sexual misconduct because it’s “too hard” but turns out it’s actually not that hard, after all.
donmoyn.bsky.social
If you make "controversial statements" outside of classroom, that the President of the university dislikes, you can be summarily fired even if you are tenured.

I just learned, Thomas Alter, tenured professor, has been terminated effective immediately. Shame on Texas State! We mst build support for Tom. spectrumlocalnews.com/tx/south-tex...

The most important thing NASA does is monitor climate change from space. No other country in the world (and certainly no corporation) can make up for the decimation of climate science capabilities that this admin is dead set on causing.

A lot of comments on Mars rovers or Moon landings, but it's important to remember that the planet NASA studies most is Earth. This is less about cutting flashy things like moonwalks and more about keeping communities in the dark on climate, weather, agriculture, pollution, natural hazards, and more.

My focus group disapproved of Donald Trump's language and behavior, but all agreed you vote for the policy, not the person. Here are the things they said a Democrat would have to do—from the way they dress to the way they talk—in order to inspire them to vote for them.

if you wonder if liberals know how to hold a grudge or not, go check out the msnbc lineup. its like 70% made up of republicans and conservatives who helped build the shit pile we live in now but they said "dont like trump" and liberalism said "ok youre cool" without any sort of apology

in the last decade and a half, very few of us on the liberal side even bring up george w bush -- which is why im not optimistic about liberalism collectively remembering everything trump has done to us. we've already reduced reagan and bush to "not so bad" and you even see people praise goldwater

one of my bigger pet peeves. liberals love to "turn the page" on things like bush and reagan, meanwhile conservatives still invoke things like jimmy carter and borking *decades* later
daveweigel.bsky.social
I'm generalizing, but why do conservatives remember political irritations for so much longer than liberals?

It's been 17 years since Obama said some voters "cling to their guns, to their religion" and I heard a senator denounce that last month.

Obvious theory: Media ecosystem puts it on repeat

The Regime's goal is to grind everyone down. Plain & simple. Our goal is to refuse this by taking turns to fight where and how we can. When one group needs to bow out, then another group needs to step in and so on. We don't all have to do everything. We can all do something though. Stay in the fight

Another reason I appreciate going to an all-girl’s school—our English teachers purposely chose books that were written by women and/or featured female characters. My husband tells me about all the books he read in school and there’s very little overlap.
