seems that RFK is clearing the path for his CDC to do tuskegee syphillis experiments as a matter of course. in other news, RFK is a genuine monster who relishes in the pain and suffering of those he feels he has control or dominion over
RFK is undoing human subjects protections so he can conduct placebo trials of vaccines. That means infecting people knowingly. I wonder who will “volunteer” for these trials? If history is any guide, a lot of incarcerated and other powerless people.
Dismantling the Institutional Review Board (IRB), that oversees all human subjects research, is bad. Really bad.
Nice work Sainz! #f1
Ok race time, let's go! #f1
"unquestioned power" means acting like a king.

We're getting under his skin, and forcing him to overplay his hand even more than he has. He has nothing of substance to offer
Trump: "Don't forget I can use the Insurrection Act. 50% of the presidents almost have used that. And that's unquestioned power."
Earnestness is a good thing! Cynicism is lame

Don’t let the frogwater that’s boiling us alive let you skip over this: we murdered another country’s citizens in cold blood, and when their leader objected, we called him a drug dealer and cut off aid to his country. That’s freakish.
Petro objected to the US bombing a Columbian fishing vessel that had the emergency beacon on because they were broken down, that we subsequently bombed. One Columbian fisherman survived the attack.

This is the official US response to Petro's comments.

We bombed a fishing boat in distress.
UPDATE: COLOMBIA’s President says 🇺🇸 government (Trump) “committed murder” and bombed a fisherman with no ties to drugs

“The boat was adrift and had its distress signal up due to an engine failure”

Arizona’s 7th congressional district does not get to be represented in the House of Representatives because of the President’s friendship with a dead pedophile
KARL: I mean, you could swear in Adelita Grijalva tomorrow, right?

MIKE JOHNSON: No, not tomorrow. We couldn't. We wouldn't.

In 2020 when I said Democrats should refuse to seat Republicans I was told if they did that nothing would stop Republicans from doing the same.
KARL: I mean, you could swear in Adelita Grijalva tomorrow, right?

MIKE JOHNSON: No, not tomorrow. We couldn't. We wouldn't.
Oh, so the godking deemed it acceptable to let us protest?

Is that the framing Republicans want?
Mike Johnson: "We congratulate them on an apparently violent-free speech exercise ... but if President Trump was a king, the government would be open right now ... by the way, the Mall was open because President Trump hasn't closed it."

“Your king LET YOU protest” is not the message he should be sending, but don’t interrupt your enemy when they’re fucking up or whatever

“the president is less popular than the Vietnam war” should be a simply irresistible headline
Good evening. We estimate that between 4.2 and 7.6 million people turned out for the No Kings Day demonstrations held around the country on Saturday. This makes Oct 18 very likely the biggest single-day U.S. protest event since 1970. www.gelliottmorris.com/p/second-no-...
Second "No Kings Day" protests likely the largest single-day political demonstration since 1970, with 4.2-7.6 million participants
Here are the initial results from our crowdsourced crowd-counting estimates

This is kinda what I mean when I say theirs is a sort of simulation of authoritarianism. Instead of actually attacking peaceful protesters, he posts AI slop made by some 17 year old who uses the term “fatherland” a little too much.
Trump posts AI video showing him literally dumping shit on America

More people marched today than at any time in the history of the United States.

For @nytimes.com, it was the 6th most important story.

They are making sure that those in power do not see what they do not want to see.

This is not what we were brought up to think of as journalism.

It doesn’t make more aggressive forms of protest and resistance less effective. It makes them more effective. It can raise public tolerance for protest, introduces new people to acts of resistance, and lay the groundwork for larger networks of solidarity.

We are proof of the America they insist is impossible: one where diversity and creativity fuels progress and opportunity.

Across centuries and movements, the story of Boston is the story of everyday people who found injustice intolerable and fought to correct it.

This is what they have now. There are no ideas, only "oh you don't like that? Then I'll do it more." That's the sum total of the right's brain trust now
It is a scandal totally unprecedented in history that the Vice President has shared a video depicting the President as king. It’s an obscene violation of every founding American principle.

And nothing will come of it. It makes me physically sick.
