Happening in my own kid's school. Sucks. Hate it.
In American high schools, many teenagers are assigned few full books to read from beginning to end — often just one or two per year, according to researchers and thousands of responses to an informal reader survey by The New York Times. trib.al/gNp7kWK

There are reports that the FDA intends to put a “black box” warning on COVID-19 vaccines.

This is not in line with the science, which shows that COVID-19 are safe and have saved millions of lives.

This would be a serious abuse of power by FDA officials to further antivax political goals.

I honestly think that many people don't know what their public libraries offer besides books. I think that everyone should go on a public library treasure hunt in 2026. Go explore what your library systems offer at no cost to you. Report back to me :)

Hell, I'd settle for Amtrak but dirt cheap.
People love to say "high speed rail" and sure but reliable reasonably frequent 60mph service would do very well many places!

2. Some bad news: #CDC was notified of a pediatric #flu death in the week ending 12/6, the 1st of the 2025-26 season.
It was also alerted of another pediatric death from 2024-25, which brings last season's total to 288. That's as many pediatric flu deaths as were logged in the 2009 #H1N1 pandemic.

3. While there's abundant evidence that #flu poses a risk to kids, the percentage of them vaccinated against flu continues to drop in the post-Covid era. #CDC says that as of 12/6, just about 42% of kids were vaxed against flu. That's down from just under 50% last season, I believe.
Bad trend.
