This is a good policy for pretty much every billionaire big idea.
- Colonize asteroids or other planets? Great, but the first job for resources is to fix climate on Earth
- Massive power consumption for AI Data centers? Great, but first major task is solving sustainability
- Self driving? 4 transit!
The initial colonist launch is cheap. Henceforth every resupply mission should face an adverse impact to home planet analysis. You shouldn’t be allowed to create massive energy deficit or emissions on earth for shit on mars.
This is the future I in particular want.
Because the state of Connecticut doesn’t want to provide rail service to Norwich, they claim it would cost around $650 million to provide 13.6 miles of rail service.

I propose it can be 3x the length and cost $140 million to do.

Cannot wait for AG Lina Kahn to have access to the panopticon DOGE built, so she can use it to disassemble the tech broligarchy.
WOW. @haleaziz.bsky.social with a new scoop: ICE now gets a running list of every person who is going to be taking a domestic flight inside the United States from the TSA and runs it through their database looking for targets. This explains the Babson College student's arrest.

Um, ok...

This paper forthcoming at the JOP provides evidence that rent control in Germany actually made tenants MASSIVELY *less* NIMBY.

This result was in the opposite direction of the authors' pre-registered expectations.

And the effect sizes are, truly, massive.

HUD gonna decide that prohibiting redlining was discrimination against white people, probably.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development said Thursday that it was opening an investigation into housing policies in Boston, scrutinizing whether the city discriminated against white people.

For the umpteenth time since at least Watergate, there are going to be no actual legal, personal, or professional consequences for the lawless authoritarianism from the GOP. It’s the signal feature of 🇺🇸 politics & why all the awful & illegal things keep happening again & again & again.
Aside from how he's wrong right now on the history, process, strategy, and merits, this is Jeffries heavily signaling that even when they're in the majority, he'll oppose any impeachment that doesn't first get slow-walked in needless committee dithering for as long as he can delay it there.
Significant statement from Jeffries and House Democratic leaders saying they will vote “present” on the motion to table Al Green’s resolution to impeach President Trump. They say they’re “laser-focused on fighting to lower the high cost of living” plus on health care and corruption.

Thread, but especially this.

Democracy, regardless of John Roberts’ terrible jurisprudence, is one person, one vote.

We don’t need billionaires to have nice things.
Being rich because you are good at math, trading, programming, whatever doesn't make you an expert in anything else on the planet. Elon Musk and Mark Cuban's opinions on policy shouldn't mean any more than anyone else's. They should not have extra influence in the political sphere. 2/3

Someone should ask Trump about this.
After a peace accord signing in Washington, the costs of #Congo’s war are mounting – Rwandan-backed #M23militia seizes Uvira and 200,000 people flee. But plans to bolt the Kivus onto the Lobito Corridor and US‑backed copper‑cobalt ventures move ahead.

I am deadly serious when I say that any liberal Project 2028 people should be taking names of the civil servants who go way past their authority to do stuff like this.

That is very much not me saying that normal employees following bad orders should be fired. But there’s a line. This crosses it.
That should be a career ending act of corruption

Early Letterman was completely unhinged and glorious

Take Joan Jett. They play “Roadrunner”, and then do the interview. Takeaways:
- She gives a shout out to Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers, so props to her for being both legend and fan
- house band does Sabbath on the outro
- dial phone

Adolf Eichman was a mediocre man who was elevated by Hitler into a major role deporting Jews to their deaths. He would have been a nobody without the Nazi party. He was tried and hung in Israel.

Where would Miller be without Trump.
