There are so many good hobbies based on stuff that spins. Pottery. Record collecting. Spiral art. Mechanized Sewing. Wood turning. Watch repair. Automotive interests. Coffee grinding. The list goes on.
I fucking love it when the crowd roars but then it isn't a dinger and everybody just goes silent like "goddamit the dog is going to be ruining the carpet"

Greatest graphic I’ve ever seen.
FUCK YEAH THAT'S THE ELDRITCH HORROR I WANNA SEE
like I am extremely tired and super want to go to sleep and this is gonna make tomorrow suck and I don't even care about these teams BUT....... sickos.png
"world series game entering the fourteenth inning on a worknight as a nation prays for it to just fucking end" is the exact kind of sicko concept that got me into baseball as a little kid
something IS fishy - the fact that there aren't dozens of other groups being talked about like this! every county democratic organization in the country usually has MULTIPLE clubs / member orgs with MUCH MUCH MUCH smaller groups that actually run it!!!
Conspiratorial mindset put aside, it's legitimately sad that people are confused by what DSA is and how it can be so effective relative to its scale. There were thousands of membership-ran organizations like DSA at the peak of the New Deal era.

Rollback of public participation since is so sad.

when people used those old fashioned cameras where you have to get under the sheet they were eating ortolan under there
Fuck I need more TVs so much sports happening
what was that "two characters that always bring you comfort" thing going around the other day?
It's fucking annoying the world series and the Knicks can't be two of them at the same time
This preshow sucks but in multi view I've been watching my cousin vinny so overall tv is still pretty great even with my endless bitchin
We had picture in picture and I could swap between the channels on our dumb fuckin living room big boxy rectangle TV thirty fuckin years ago it's so goddamn stupid I can't do this today cuz 5 different near monopolies run the world to the point of no real competition but JUST enough to be a ballache
Television Carriers need to be a monopoly I'm sorry. It's fucking bullshit that the NBA is on one app and college football & baseball on another and we've got all this fucking insane technology and I can't just watch the Knicks & the world series split screen even if I am WILLING TO PAY
The last good idea Western Civilization had was putting the perforations in a 12-pack so you can just tear off the corner and it becomes a nice little can dispenser in the fridge. When people say "innovation", that's the kind of little life improving shit I want, not goddamn AI slop bullshit

I feel envious of all the Gen Z and younger types who go and look up his Wikipedia page for the first time.

The NYC Metro Area - the area directly impacted all day, every day by the may or of NYC - is 20 million people. If it was a state only California, Texas, and Florida would be bigger.
people online complain about having to hear too much about nyc mayoral elections as if they were normal and its like....nyc has a population that would make it the 11th or 12th biggest state if it was a state. At any given time almost 4% - nearly 1 out of 25 americans - is inside NYC boundaries.
FINALLY!!!! I have been so sick of needing to vote my entire adult life, delighted to see steps are at last being taken to relieve us of this annoying nuissance.

the 88 foot tall flagpoles though, good god, we're fucked
this is mind-numbingly offensive and undignified and disqualifying and disgraceful, but it is also extremely funny. like i don't want any elected dems to 'gotta hand it to them', but between us lowbie accounts, i'll admit they got a laugh w/ this one.
oh my god
