Soleil hints at this in the piece, but we were on the verge of bringing Alice’s Teen Vogue column to COYOTE after its cancellation. Our crew loved and admired her and her work more than I could begin to tell you. I still can’t believe she’s gone.
It's sort of impossible to really capture what Alice Wong meant to so many people (myself included) but @soleilho.com wrote something beautiful, and we gathered up a few touching memories from other folks that speak to what a brilliant star she was. Love you forever, Alice.
Remembering Alice Wong
On the one-month anniversary of her passing, we honor the acclaimed disability justice advocate, writer, shit-talker, and friend to so many.

When Rob Reiner was on his all-time epic run at the start of his career, he had an opportunity to read a script that was looking for a production partner, and he lost his mind for it. He decided Castle Rock had to have it, no matter what.

A lovely thread on a sad, sad morning.
As you may know, I have stopped using Twitter, and have decided to reproduce some of my more memorable threads here for posterity. Here’s one I hold wrote after a particularly engaging swordfighting lesson.

Buckle up, swordfighting fans, because I *have* studied my Agrippa!

The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

Rob Reiner made some great movies but he was also unafraid to speak the truth, and was one of the public voices who knew you don’t squander your platform, and only got louder about opposing evil fucks as he got older. Legend.

can we all agree to take it easy on ourselves tomorrow?

we are humans with hearts and souls and it's unnatural to soldier on as if we're unaffected
we are not meant to endure this much horrific news in a lifetime let alone a weekend

Hollywood has to wake up tomorrow and just go back to work like nothing fucking happened. I don't know that there's a person in the industry who hasn't been influenced by Reiner's work. Tomorrow is an industry day of mourning, pure and simple. It's all any of us are going to be talking about.

i don't think it's an exaggeration to say that rob reiner is a meaningful part of the reason i have the federal right to marry today
Rob Reiner was one of the key people behind the effort to go to court to overturn California's anti-marriage equality Proposition 8 when it passed in 2008.

Working with Chad Griffin, they founded the American Foundation for Equal Rights and got Ted Olson and David Boies to team up to fight Prop 8.

Part of the Chanukah tradition is to place the light menorah either outside or in a window where outsiders can see it. This is supposed to advertise the miracle of Chanukah. These days, it is also a way of saying, “This is a Jewish home.”

Every year I think about how it is also an act of bravery.

In praise of Seattle, which set up a huge Pride programming connected to the World Cup match it’s hosting - before anyone knew which teams would be taking the field.

Turns out it was Iran v Egypt, two countries where homosexuality is illegal. Egypt wants Pride banned.

Seattle isn’t backing down.
