Enginerd prof pals, have you experimented with oral exams for technical courses? If so, how did it go? Any thoughts, pitfalls, recommendations?

Apropos of nothing, this post makes me think of the other major event we're supposed to remember in September (other than the 21st night).

I can't quote the post that inspires this thought, but get yourself some string lights folks. There is something really nice, especially in the winter, about having lots of small lights to brighten your space. The Internet is right, it's downright cozy.

A 14 point D wave doesn't look like it'd put any Kansas congressional seat in play (maybe KS02, but idk, seems unlikely given the gerrymander), but a it will likely make the statewides way more interesting.

I hate that I, all of 35 and change, with no special love for the series, am genuinely excited for the FNAF 2 movie.

It looks delightfully terrible.

I'm guessing this ends up R+7, which would be consistent with the ~14ish point swing we've seen across the country. While it would have been nice for TN07 to somehow be bluer than the rest of the country, it was probably unlikely to expect it to be so much so.

Stauf built a house and filled it with his toys. Six guest were invited one night their screams the only noise. Blood in the library Blood right up the hall. No one came out that night No one was ever seen. But old man Stauf is waiting there Crazy, sick, and mean. (7th Guest)

The canceled show you'll never stop thinking about.

I know people have said this already, but I just had it happen to me:

MSNBC's rebrand makes the company look like a local news channel in Jackson rather than a major cable news chanel.

Especially with the space between MS and NOW.

Hear me out: If we can't get a full Knives Out with Muppets, can we at least get Janelle Monae in a muppet murder mystery? Cause I want more Janelle Monae murder mysteries.

Seeing lots of damn good turkeys out there today. I didn't take a picture but just to add made my best damn turkey I've ever made. Brine, mirepiox, citrus, and apples go a long way.

I've set out the last two editions of The Onion for Thanksgiving. If we're going to talk about the news, it's going to be the fake news.

What low budget movie (or movies) have you seen that stuck with you long after they should have left you?

Two come to mind. FDR American Badass (it was so wild and impossible to describe accurately).

And Iron Sky (fuck this movie for so many reasons).

OK - pie discourse - best pie story:

In 2016, we were living in Andover, in the UK. My wife was assigned as an exchange officer at the Army Air Corps base at Middle Wallop (yes, really).*

The US Army has a tradition: senior leaders, in dress uniform, serve junior troops Thanksgiving dinner.
