Stoppard’s plays inspired me to choose an English major with a focus on Theatre Studies. It was only much later that I realized how much of my movie-viewing life was enriched by his wit and comprehensive understanding of dramatic structure.

If you loved THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE, then you'll love its action-packed sequel, PRINCE CASPIAN! The Pevensie children are back, even Edmund, but what about all your favorite friends: Mr. Tumnus, the Beavers, the friendly giant? Well, they've been dead for a thousand years. Sorry.

I dunno about everyone else, but this admin feels significantly deflated now compared to the beginning of the month. The election & the big Epstein emails release I think had a lot to do w that, but its noticeable that they seem palpably weaker now &, imptly, most of them seem to grasp that.

Really important to stress that the Crown Jewels of the US higher education system were never the Ivies or elite SLACs (other countries have equivalents of these) but the well-funded, large, cheap, and excellently staffed public state university systems bringing high quality education to the masses.
One of the bragging rights that the US ed system had in the 20th century is that we didn't have education tracks. Essentially, any kid could go to a CC or state school & major in whatever they wanted to (obviously an oversimplification). I fear this aspect of the American dream is dying.

the 'conventional wisdom' is correct. parent's SES explains ~20% of SAT score variation. how much variation in "being able to found a non-profit in high school" do you think parent's income explains?
Tapping the chart once again, the conventional wisdom that the SAT is the most equitable aspect of college admissions is completely wrong
