“Someone or something or some combination of people and things is using YouTube to systematically frighten, traumatise, and abuse children, automatically and at scale, and it forces me to question my own beliefs about the internet, at every level.“ I remember reading this years ago

NEW - Disney and OpenAI have struck a new three-year deal letting Sora generate short, fan-prompted social videos featuring 200+ characters from Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars.

How is this even feasible. Just billions of dollars into the lying machine that lies
Disney is investing one billion into OpenAI-- this is exactly why that lobbying effort against AI with these companies (including Adobe, et al) using the copyright angle was never going to work. The technology itself is completely unethical, and these conglomerates are going to use it regardless.

The incredible grassroots anti-ICE organizing in LA, Chicago, NC, and now New Orleans is probably the most hopeful political thing I’ve seen all year.

Cool think about an LLM (derogatory) is u ask it the same question 5 times and can get 6 very different answers
Furthermore, as a non-kid-haver, even I know that there is no one way to raise a kid! I had one nephew you could plunk in a bouncy seat and he would entertain himself. I had another who really benefited from hands-on time. (THEY WERE AND ARE EQUALLY WONDERFUL.) Looking for The Answer is pointless.

The people of New Orleans have created an incredible grassroots community intelligence service to track the feds as they hunt the city's immigrants. A real good cops vs. bad cops dynamic being replicated across the country right now.

A little of my local (MS) history. Unbelievable cruelty and generations later still no recompense.
This Day in Labor History: November 25, 1865. Mississippi created the first of the Black Codes. Designed to recreate slavery in all but name, this signified the South’s resistance to the freeing of their labor force and the lengths to which it would go to tie workers to a place under white control.
