NPC dialogue is a uniquely exemplar about the utility of AI and subsequently immersion. You play your first rpg and bemoan that 9/10 townsfolk say something banal like "good season for crops".
in rpgs, npcs in town shouldn't have infinite dialogue trees
they should have one line about the weather, or a passing comment on how peculiar the king has been acting lately, maybe something about a rumor that the nearby cave hides a fearsome beast, or be a kid looking for their cat

Ronald Reagan kicked off his 1980 presidential campaign with a speech in Neshoba County, Mississippi, where 3 civil rights workers were murdered by the KKK.
The presidency once served as a reminder of our common humanity. Ronald Reagan described its purpose as building "a nation composed of good and decent people."

America has always been a fascistic hellhole to non-white people, and we need to fucking come to grips with that.

Ignoring it got us here.

My Dudes, The easiest way to add flavor to your life is make rice in a rice cooker and add ¼ tsp garlic and onion powder.

I totally understand why many many of us men don't prep vegetables, especially onions

But I'm telling ya You're missing out.
Folks going their entire lives without having garlic or onion powder in the house

No need to break POV to have narrative tools.

Pools can be in-character (like secrets acquired, favors due).

Even scene authoring can be immersive. PC historian or architect. They say maybe there's a Prohibition era extra exit. Roll skill for the guess.

The line is arbitrary.

#FabulaUltima #TTRPG campaign pitch

The entire party is indebted to a supernatural power. They've gathered you all together to complete a task that will both pay off your debt and save the world.

How very convenient…
Random #TTRPG idea: the party where all warlocks of the same patron. On death their soul was claimed. Now their patron has a new task for them. They will be reincarnated and their new life they fulfill a prophecy in return they will be freed of their debts

#Audiobook review - A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers

This is a charming and cozy book

There's a single narrator, and it's pretty easy to follow along

Give us a read if you enjoy world building, there is not really any action adventure in this story

If you're writing a TTRPG please, please don't make me stat out/track stas for npcs and enemies. Let the narrative guide them, ot let me assign them a si gle track/clock for how long I want them to stick around. A little game prep is fine, but statting npcs is my personal hell.

This video demonstrates once again that conservatism is about enforcing a social hierarchy.

The idea that people would gamble less if they had higher incomes is hilarious. Literally royalty would famously get into gambling debt in the 1800s
I've said before that any attempt by regulate predatory gambling apps is gonna result in endless shrieking about how you're depriving these poor young men of their only opportunity to get ahead in life by not letting them feed their life savings to a virtual plinko machine
