During the government shutdown, disruptions in food aid rippled across reservations. Both residents and tribal officials had to make tough choices, and are still feeling the financial impacts.

Pretty much ANY statistic you see cited to frighten you about vaccines comes from the VAERS database. (Including the recent evidence-free missive from Vinay Prasad). Here's why VAERS can NEVER be a proper source for population-level vaccine risk estimates.

Trans Professors comment Mel Curth (She/They) November 16, 2025 at 2:04 PM Please note that I am not deducting points because you have certain beliefs, but instead I am deducting point for you posting a reaction paper that does not answer the questions for this assignment, contradicts itself, heavily uses personal ideology over empirical evidence in a scientific class, and is at times offensive. While you are entitled to your own personal beliefs, there is an appropriate time or place to implement them in your reflections. I encourage all students to question or challenge the course material with other empirical findings or testable hypotheses, but using your own personal beliefs to argue against the findings of not only this article, but the findings of countless articles across psychology, biology, sociology, etc. is not best practice. You argue that abiding by normative gender roles is beneficial (it is perfectly fine to believe this. but to then say that evervone should act TPUSA OU Trans Professors comment the same, while also saying that people aren't pressured into gendered expectations is contradictory, especially since your arguments reflect a religious pressure to act in gender-stereotypical ways. You can say that strict gender norms don't create gender stereotypes, but that isn't true by definition of what a stereotype is. Please note that acknowledging gender stereotypes does not immediately denote a negative connotation, a nuance this article discusses. Additionally, to call an entire group of people "demonic" is highly offensive, especially a minoritized population. You are entitled to your own beliefs, but this isn't a vague narrative of "society pushes lies," but instead the result of countless years developing psychological and scientific evidence for these claims and directly interacting with the communities involved. You may personally disagree with this, but that TPUSA OU 2 Trans Professors comment doesn't change the fact that every major psychological, medical, pediatric, and psychiatric association in the United States acknowledges that, biologically and psychologically, sex and gender is neither binary nor fixed. I implore you apply some more perspective and empathy in your work. If you personally disagree with the findings, then by all means share your criticisms, but make sure to do so in a way that is appropriate and using the methodology of empirical psychology, as aligned with the learning goals in this class. Journalist Jasper Nathaniel shares an update on Mohammed Zaher Ibrahim, the 16-y.o. American freed from Israel’s Ofer Prison after more than 9 months. Ibrahim only learned he’d be released 2 hours before, didn't know a ceasefire was in place & is still recovering from severe starvation & illness. ⬇️
Just got off a video call with Mohammed. A surreal moment. He told me he’d seen the video of me rummaging through his bedroom drawers lol. I asked if he’d had any idea about the effort to free him; he said no. He knew literally nothing about what was happening in the outside world. Didn’t know the “war” ended. He didn’t even know he was getting out until two hours before his release. He’s pretty gaunt, and his stomach is still too shrunken to eat much. Seems like he’s in a bit of shock and it’s still settling in that he’s free. Lots of smiling, though. Since getting out on Thursday, he’s only left the house twice: (1) To visit the grave of his first cousin, Sayfollah, who was beaten to death by settlers while Mohammed was in prison — something he only learned after he was released. (2) To visit the family of Walid Khalid Abdullah Ahmad, his 17-year-old friend and cellmate, who collapsed and died in front of him in prison from a combination of starvation, dehydration from untreated colitis-induced diarrhea, and untreated infectious disease. He says the next visits will be to the families of other children he befriended in prison. And yes — my mom joined the call (and cried). We’ll get together IRL soon! I have some incredible news to share. Today, after 9.5 agonizing months, Mohammed Zaher Ibrahim was released from Israel’s Ofer Prison and into his father’s arms. The Israeli military had no right to take him in the first place, and the family credits the relentless grassroots campaign that kept up the diplomatic pressure to free him. He’s in rough shape, but okay, and on his way to the hospital for treatment. Once he’s discharged, his mom, dad, brother, and sisters will have his favorite meal and a very belated 16th-birthday celebration waiting for him at home. I’ll share more details soon. Now that Mohammed is free, the family is asking all his supporters to keep fighting for the hundreds of Palestinian children still unjustly trapped in Israeli military prisons. The family requests privacy for now. Happy Thanksgiving everyone — lots to be thankful for.
