"Ethical AI" does not exist. There is no reality where you can have generative AI that's "ethically trained". There are ZERO AI models trained ethically, and there will never be any.

The term has been made up by people who want a pass on using AI. You don't get that pass, slop peddlers.

Finished Earth Must Die. That was great. Just the right length. Fairly gentle puzzles if you're an adventure game veteran, but that's no bad thing when the appeal comes from the script, acting & animation. Even manages to get some relevant messages in there, plus many instances of the word "penis".

this is good advice! I know it's super tempting, but just don't. don't look at Twitter, don't look at Steam discussions, don't look at That End Of YouTube. just enjoy the neat thing!
Kill the reflexive urge to engage with anything you think is neat by finding out what the worst people you can imagine are saying about it first. Feel what you're feeling and move on with your day.
"I wonder how the chuds on Twitter are reacting to the LGBT options in Tomodachi Life"

I'm not! I don't care what they have to think or say! Fuck em!

Earth Must Die by @danthat.bsky.social is a delight so far. Incredible voice cast, brilliantly hilarious script and some innovative tweaks to the usual adventure formula. Will do a more substantial writeup/video when I've beaten it, but so far it's a big thumbs up and an easy recommend.

it's easy to take the piss out of all the MPs defecting to Reform, but if the current situation in the US teaches us *anything*, it is that we probably shouldn't ignore this, for a variety of reasons

I'm going to plug this one more time - it's one I feel deserved to do better than it has, and I don't really know how to counteract that.

I feel stuff like this is SPECIAL - it's a cool game on an underappreciated system, it's AFFORDABLE and it's not a one and done production run.

Played through @inkle.co's TR-49 this evening. Was concerned I wouldn't be able to "do" it after bouncing harrrrd off Blue Prince last year, but this was just my right level of logic puzzle. A really cool, clever game that it's enormously spoileriffic to say anything further about.

Finished Lamplight City by @grundislav.games. Really good point and clicker! I'll do a full writeup over the weekend, probably, but I enjoyed this a lot. Some interesting twists on the usual format -- notably the fact you can get things very wrong and still progress.

This is the thing that AI Tech Bros don't understand. I don't make art because I want the Art at the other end; I make it because MAKING IT IS FUN.
I just wrote a list and it turns out I used photos I took at roughly 12 different locations as reference and inspiration for TR-49. Physically travelling to all those places has gotta be like, the opposite of slamming a prompt into an AI generator. AND much more fun

Finished Wolfenstein: The New Order the other day. This is an admirably *furious* game that, unfortunately, resonates even more today than when it first came out more than 10 years ago. moegamer.net/2026/01/22/w...

I'm in the middle of Lamplight City right now and it's fantastic. If the phrase "steampunk Gabriel Knight" makes you tingle in your special places, then you'll definitely want to give it a go.

Looking forward to trying the others also!

I was about to joke that the only worse than "refocusing [Ubi's] portfolio" on "the Open-World Adventure segment" and "GaaS-native experiences" would be going all-in on AI.

Then I saw that they intend to make "accelerated investments behind player-facing Generative AI".

Of course.
