I see this take a lot but I kinda don't get it. It's so much easier now to find and access weird/niche stuff, if you want to. Is the idea that people don't want to as much? Because it's become correspondingly easier to access familiar stuff?
The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

Somehow it‘s only just come to my attention that nearly 10 years ago Zadie Smith wrote a great essay on Charlie Kaufman seen through a Schopenhauerian lens. She really gets Schopenhauer.

That's one of the laws neither of the Good Presidents you've had in the past 20 years have bothered to repeal.

I think it's best to date someone with the same birthday as you because it stops the age gap being more or less problematic depending on the time of year
Serious inquiry, because I’ve heard differing opinions on this.

Would you all date someone with the same birthday as you ? Why or why not ?

We have learned that if the Amerikkkan people cannot have their burgers delivered piping hot for less than it costs in person they will collectively elect a guy who kills a million people in developing nations, so the creation of cheap burrito bots is one of the stronger moral obligations out there
Just as you thought food delivery companies couldn't inflict any more misery on society:

Instead of using lowly-paid gig economy contractors to deliver groceries, they're replacing humans with robots, who, in turn, force humans off the pavement into road traffic.

rich dudes got freakier after butlers fell out of fashion, like say what you will about having domestic servants but clearly it was some sort of moderating force on old rich dudes having a fancy man follow you around saying shit like "oh dear sir, that wouldn't be very becoming"

Are philosophers seeing these kinds of issues too or are we built different
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

I remember when GB News was new and we all decided not to talk about them even negatively so that they would fail, but then after a while their ratings were so low that we thought it was safe to start laughing at them and now however many years later they're still around
Can we all just agree to not talk about Your Party? It's not something that is or ever will be relevant to UK politics, whatever lessons we could draw about how to not run a political movement we should already know and every post just confers legitimacy they don't have.
