That anybody is talking about disability being “rewarded too liberally” is disgusting; that it’s Derek Thompson is laughable. These people think everyone games the system because ~they~ can’t play without gaming the system. Spend one fucking hour with a disability, Derek, report back on the rewards
what always confuses me about this discourse is that elite colleges have been like this for decades, but people act like it's a new phenomenon every time. maybe students weren't getting disability exemptions 20 years ago, but it was widely known Harvard et al handed out As like candy.

- At Stanford: nearly 40 percent

As students and their parents have recognized the benefits of claiming disability—extended time on tests, housing accommodations, etc—the rates of disability at colleges, and especially at elite colleges, has exploded.

Once again: this is not something that "threatens" academic freedom, though it will doubtless be reported that way. This is only possible where academic freedom has already ended.
TX Tech has a flow chat for guidance on what can be taught in the university system. Two things:
1. Very little content seems to be permitted. This is partisan control of the curriculum.
2. I would not enjoy teaching under these conditions, but I really would not want to be a Chair or Dean.
