while we're doing introductions, i'm dr. karra. i think about how political philosophy works for us -- what do we do with words like "freedom," "authenticity," or "nobility?" i also read a lot of lyric poetry because that tends to illustrate philosophical problems in miniature. links below:

Completely unrelated, but this is an example of a particular aesthetic among white southern men that I call the perpetual 9-year-old haircut. Put this guy in a golf polo of an SEC school and he's interchangeable with the ruling class of many southern cities.

helps to think about the details like any regular crime you'd see on one of the 800 cop shows that run on TV constantly: these guys committed one set of murders, thought it over, and then decided to kill the witnesses as part of the coverup. mention of drugs is just jingling keys at this point

1) What are we doing?
2) How is this pro-life?
3) What are we doing?

Good morning (actually is: snow day!)…

I need to make the $400 below as soon as possible. It’s urgent. I actually need much more, but that would greatly help with my pretty rough situation. If you can help:

PayPal: @MatthewStefon

Thanks so much.
Hello:

Because my teaching jobs are near the end of the term and one is in doubt for spring, I’m preparing for some temporary hardship. I’m facing some this week: I need $200 now for bills and another $400 next week for utilities. Grateful for any help.

should not be complicated to grasp that we cannot have war crimes without a war — but we can and we do have murder, and when we've programmatically murdered scores of victims we have mass murder
December 5, 2025 at 6:11 AM
same. my efforts are focused right now on getting one or two people at a time to understand anything that's going on. do they know their neighbors are going hungry? that skyhigh rents mean homelessness? that we are a leader in mass incarceration? that lobbing missiles at random boats is deeply wrong

Trump Administration sees its chief foreign policy role as the backer of the far right international, all foreign policy bends to that aim.

The antidote cannot be pursuing far-right policy in half-measures like Starmer is or Biden did on Israel & the border. Internationalist solidarity or barbarism

There are many obvious reasons why dozens of members of Trump's regime should spend the rest of their lives in prison. But I think we're overlooking the fact that if Americans see these animals skate with no consequences, some people might take matters into their own hands.

We need to avoid that.
