If you aren’t actively pro trans then you are not against the far right. them’s the rules
“Together Against The Far Right” is following a variety of groups - but they’ve not actively engaged with ANY LGBT or trans, orgs 🤔

Maybe it’s because their Interim Chair, Kevin Courtney, has a history of aligning himself with anti-trans hate groups??

There is a Lords amendment that requires all phones to have unremovable spyware pre-installed, supposedly to combat CSAM. It is unsurprising that one of its sponsors is the weirdo Hilary Cass.

Copywriters working across the field shared accounts of clients abandoning them or their agencies for cheaper AI output en masse. They've seen freelance work and rates plummet. Many were made to write the copy to train their own AI replacements. Whole businesses have closed their doors.

As was true with the translators I heard from in an earlier edition, copywriters never felt that they were being replaced because the AI's work was better. It was almost always worse. It was simply cheaper and faster, and deemed "good enough" by clients.

Most authors' and artists' real preferred option ("fuck you, pay me for the shit you already stole and you're not getting your hands on anything else of mine, I hope your company dies") wasn't an option on the consultation, so 95% of people went for option 1 as the closest match
🚨 The UK government just published a breakdown of the responses to its consultation on AI & copyright:

- 95% of respondents want AI companies to pay for their training data (made up of 88% saying strengthen copyright law, & 7% saying leave it as is)

Remember how biased and leading the questions were in favour of the AI companies? And this was still the response.

Considering how massively (and shamelessly) the government pushed respondents towards option 3 (the copyright exception with opt-outs), this would be a huge embarrassment to them, if anyone in this government were capable of embarrassment. A rational government would now rethink. This one won't.

Stop equating muslims with terrorism. Stop equating Jews with the crimes of Israel. Stop equating trans people or black people or travellers or gay people with goodness knows what fucking else. Just fucking stop. Just fucking stop.

The exclusion of trans people from public and academic spaces, removal of protections by human rights institutions, dehumanising language used by state news media, judicial tolerance of trans directed hate crime, withdrawal of medical care: all of this is very familiar to genocide scholars.

Steve isn’t here anymore, but he always posted this picture on Hanukkah so I thought we could carry on his tradition and remember him.
Happy Hanukkah to our friends who celebrate. Rachel Posner, a rabbi’s wife in Kiel, Germany, took this photograph in 1931 -- a potent reminder that fascism must be fought in every generation, even if it's wrapped in an American flag and a red hat.

It was a policy pushed in via the backdoor, so to speak, using overarching powers of the Home Secretary, without proper consideration, or scrutiny. It goes against the very basis of refugee protection. It leaves people in more precarious positions, and it denies them rights. Pure cruelty by Labour.

Labour's policy of denying citizenship to refugees based on manner of entry is arguably in breach of both Articles 31 and 34 of the Refugee Convention, fundamentally underming the very principle of international refugee protection.

It needs scrapping entirely.

AI didn't create the post truth society, but it's definitely making it much, much worse
This is fucking grim. Somebody invented a white guy, an "IT professional" named Edward Crabtree, who stopped the Bondi shooting and spread it all over the internet, which was picked up by AI agents and slop aggregation sites.

The real hero is a fruit stand owner named Ahmed el Ahmed.
