Fuck this poor excuse for a civilisation.
Spot on, again.
No surprise to me either as a 80s-90s home counties grammar school kid.

What if its not the "concerned" left behind vs the cosmopolitan elite? What if its actually the multi-ethnic majority vs the racist elite? What kind of politics could we build on that basis?

I think there are several interesting things about that.

1. the UK manages to score worse than eg Poland, Hungary, Türkiye, which all have a very conservative discourse hegemony.

2. even with all of the press, from guardian to times, blasting transphobia for years, transphobia barely gets 50%.

0.2% growth in productivity over five years from "AI".

That's your revolution, lads, really?

The sort of blip that could be reversed by a particularly rainy bank holiday.
Anyway, tech-wise, AI will have a "positive effect on productivity growth", the OBR say, with a 0.2 percentage point impact in five years

Nothing is fun about this fact, but the thread it starts will shock even the most battle hardened trans people/allies.

What the UK press and political class - especially Labour - have allowed to metastacize over the past 10 years is nothing short of a moral panic.
Fun fact I couldn't mention until now: At the time Graham Linehan was harassing Sophia Brooks online, I was contacted by her former teachers and School Safeguarding Team to get her latest contact details, as they were worried sick about her being publicly stalked by an abusive alcoholic celebrity.

Agree with this.

Communist and socialist ideas are the meme background noise for most people under 50 now.
I think the fact that there is a notable presence of left coms on the online left at all means that we are reaching a critical threshold. The actual left is definitely growing. It will be interesting to see which strains of thought dominate here
