Ableism is so rife, despite apparent laws to reduce it, that even now there are 12 countries in the EU in which disabled women can be sterilised without their consent, even as teenagers.

<p>"The Iron Beam laser system is expected to fundamentally change the rules of engagement on the battlefield," Daniel Gold, head of defence ministry research and development, told a defence summit in Tel Aviv.</p>
<p>The laser system is intended to improve Israel’s ability to intercept drones and other incoming threats, serving as an added layer alongside existing air-defence systems like the Iron Dome.</p>
