I guess I’m here now, so I guess I’ll introduce myself. My name is Nava & I taught Latin to young students for just shy of 25 years. Still heavily involved in pedagogy & teacher training, but working on reception of heroines of Gk myth in YA in the comp lit dept at Northwestern. Giving up 🐦 hurts.
(My dissertation prospectus was approved, pending a few light revisions)

Get your shingles vaccine! I had a very sore arm for the first shot; the second, I had an even sorer arm and general malaise.

It beat the heck out of what I've heard about shingles from everyone I know who has had shingles.
I have literally already scheduled the shingles vaccine on my 50th birthday.

Yes, I know it will suck. I don't care. Let's go shingles vaccine.

I have a joke about Odysseus but it will take me ten years to tell it and I'm probably making most of it up anyway.

Did I remember to eat and drink properly today? No. But did I get some really good writing done and make excellent headway on my chapter? Also no.

The AP Latin essential knowledge lists some of Roman values: mercy, honesty, frugality, hard work, responsibility, courage, self-control, moral discernment, and ethical behavior. I've got a couple questions on "moral discernment":

1. How would you translate that into Latin? Is there a single word?

I met a man who wasn’t there
He wasn’t there again today
I wish, I wish he’d go away

The only Russian poem I can still read…can I call it my favorite if it’s the only one?

И вот опять явилась ты,
Как мимолетное виденье,
Как гений чистой красоты.

“However,” replied the universe,

A sense of obligation.”
