Auschwitz, Belzec, Chełmno, Majdanek, Sobibor, Treblinka, Gaza.

There is no difference.

If you ever wondered what you'd have done if you were alive during the 1940s and you'd known about the death camps, you're doing it right now.

Indeed, Trump and the Trumpist GOP are clearly the better choice for...uh...

Plenty of people getting paid to say they didn't, at any rate.

I suppose Coillte might go after them for trespassing maybe

The attitude of the legal system here will be "errah you can hardly blame them, those trees were never going to turn a profit all by themselves".

Destroy trees and the environment for the sake of some money: lol oh well

Gan dabht. A single tree is worth thousands.

Absolutely wanton fuckery here. I'm looking forward to the inevitable "there's nothing anyone can do" response from Coillte, the gardaí, and anyone else who ought to be hunting these pricks down and reducing them to penury.

One area where you absolutely gotta hand it to the Brits is in naming prisons.

Strangeways
Wormwood Scrubs
Wakefield
Thorn Cross

Proper hard names. Irish prisons sound like bottled water brands.

Buddy it fucking sucks you have to think like that. It sucks that anyone does. I hope you've got good neighbours.

I thought this was @theonion.com at first. If I hadn't stopped scrolling because I think it's entertaining that Small Don has started looking like the Nano Banana version of himself, I'd have been none the wiser.

One thing I absolutely believe: there is no police force that will not beat the shite out of people if they have half a chance.

"Is this the road we're going down now, to go lockstep with many other European countries in terms of brutalised repression against protesters?"

Horrifically violent footage from Saturday. And still no statement from Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan, nearly a week on.

Timoleague Friary was built in the 13th century on top of a much older early Christian site founded by the patron saint of honey and beekeepers, Molaga. The village gets its name from the friary, not the other way around; Timoleague (Teach Molaga) means "the house of Molaga". Grand evening for it.
A wide, tranquil landscape image of the imposing, ruined Timoleague Friary in County Cork, Ireland, at dusk. The ancient stone structure is centered on the horizon, grey walls and gothic arched windows silhouetted against a pale autumn sky. The friary sits on the bank of a perfectly still body of water, the estuary of the Argideen (little silver river). The water acts as a mirror, creating a flawless, near-symmetrical reflection of the ruined walls and the bare trees along the shoreline.

News: Bari Weiss just sent a memo to staffers at CBS News asking them to produce a memo explaining "how you spend your working hours—and ideally, what you've made (or are making) that you're most proud of."

One CBS News staffer puts it like this to me: "We just got Elon Musked."

I led 2 canvasses last week and and leading 2 more this weekend. Our local volunteer crew have put up 120 posters in our local area. I will not be taking any “she has this won” takes, she has not. There is work to do and we need to do it. We can all rest on the 25th!

Money and apathy in varying ratios. Cork's politicial dynasties are generally in the Teaco Value Oligarchy category.
macmuiris.bsky.social
I know, I was failing to be facetious (except for where I said no Irish politician would dare enforce it). Cork is the poster child for crumbling, decaying, derelict, empty properties. The city council is only too happy to overlook the instruments they have at their disposal to remedy the situation.

Collecting tax breaks and cackling with glee as demand and prices continue to skyrocket. There should be a "use it or lose it" policy for vacant residential properties, or at the very least massive fines, but there's no way that any Irish politicians would dare enforce it.
