AI enables the impulse many people have, which is: if I was rich and could just pay other people to do the work but I’m the one getting rich off their work, that would be ideal. Essentially it’s unleashing the inner capitalist/CEO inside every self-centered egomaniac.

I'm a lawyer and some of my coworkers have started to try to embrace the "let's AI write our thing and then we'll clean it up aftewards and make sure the citations are good." It's significantly more work to fix it than it is to just write it, and on top of it, they don't understand the law used.

This is the classic example of people trying so hard to cheat that it would have been easier to do it the right way.

My biggest frustration with Discord is the spammers, and the way that channels will remain lit up even after their messages are erased with a ban.

Increasingly I find myself limiting the number of channels I have shown/not muted on servers I'm not deeply invested in.

Got a skirt I ordered custom from a vendor (Commanding Cosplay) at a con a month ago. And it has nice big pockets too. I can get my hand in past the wrist easily.

Blows my mind it hasn't even been a full year of congestion pricing in NYC yet. Years of cranks whining about it and then you just DO IT and everything is instantly better and everyone gets used to it and moves on. We should do good things more often!

PS - T-minus 12 days to Streets Mayor Mamdani!
I refuse to shut up about this: NYC started charging $9 to bring a car into our most transit-rich zone, the haters & trolls predicted doom, but traffic evaporated instantly and here’s Times Square tonite (even after the holiday tourists have left). For a better future, build transit & price driving!

Since yesterday, many people have DM’d to say that they were strongly affected by my essay & wished they could share it.

So I've revised, expanded, & posted it for free on both Substack & Patreon.

I've been making a conscious effort to say "skilled" instead of "talented" lately.

It's not going to change the world or anything but it helps me remember that the people whose work I admire have put in the work, and aren't magic

I'm mildly amused at the number of people who asked if we put a dehumidifier in to help dry out the Console Room after fixing the leak.

Many of them live in places with significantly higher average humidity than Denver, so it's understandable.

Our dehumidifier is just blowing air around.

I don’t think Larian understood that when they casually talk about their use of genAI it wasn’t spoken into a board room or a zoom call full of people thinking about numbers, it was to a host of fans who looked to them as an example of humanity and art persisting in spite of things like that.

People are this mad about it because that was a blow to a sensitive wound we’re all feeling - where the art we’re seeing can’t be trusted, where the voices we hear might not be human, where the stories we experience might come from somewhere entirely hollow.

It was a tipping point for a lot of us.

So I'm pretty confident that, while not literally, the folks pushing the hardest for A.I. are the same little shits that wanted to copy off my tests in school. Refused to do the work, just wanted to copy off those who did. Now they are trying to legitimize this.

So I think that's why I have such a massive, visceral negative reaction to these fuckers. I hated them in school, it wasn't right then, it's not right now only there's no teacher to discipline the behavior. Only seem to care about results only and not the process.

OK, so we found the leak inside the house had returned, with an unwelcome main course of "most of the leak is just OUTSIDE the house".

Called our plumber, he found how bad it was earlier this week, so he came out yesterday, dug a hole, and did the correct fix we couldn't do ourselves.

here's the thing, a lot of people are kinda rushing to make sure other people know which is the "real/bad AI" but most people (devs) who are using the term? are using it confusingly on purpose, and I refuse to give them the benefit of the doubt. because this is a ploy to muddy the waters. on purpos

Going into 2026, a reminder for everyone who's fallen off the creative wagon, game dev, writing, art, music, whatever, no matter how long:

Nothing like getting a piece of portable gaming equipment... and then going absolutely overkill with the portable case solution. The case weighs more than the system going into it.

Every writer who generates a slop image for their work is a class traitor.

"I can't afford a visual artist"

So your solution is stabbing artists in the back? Stealing from them?

Furthermore, slop-generated imagery suggests slop-generated writing. That's how you're presenting yourself.

using genAI in the concept phase is inherently coloring how you finalize a work even if you “remove it”. tbh it’s why i’ve been cagey on getting the j’RPG and now i’ll be skeptical of larian and any other ceo shmuck trying to sell me a creative work with the same argument
