AI enables the impulse many people have, which is: if I was rich and could just pay other people to do the work but I’m the one getting rich off their work, that would be ideal. Essentially it’s unleashing the inner capitalist/CEO inside every self-centered egomaniac.

I'm a lawyer and some of my coworkers have started to try to embrace the "let's AI write our thing and then we'll clean it up aftewards and make sure the citations are good." It's significantly more work to fix it than it is to just write it, and on top of it, they don't understand the law used.

This is the classic example of people trying so hard to cheat that it would have been easier to do it the right way.

It wouldn't be as bad if the channels would actually unlight if the spam posts going away and leaving no new posts, but that's not their architecture.

There's a number of servers I'm on - or have been on - that operate with the idea that it's better to play whack-a-mole with spammers than to make efforts to ensure that people who join are joining for conversations over getting their horrible wares in front of people.

People are this mad about it because that was a blow to a sensitive wound we’re all feeling - where the art we’re seeing can’t be trusted, where the voices we hear might not be human, where the stories we experience might come from somewhere entirely hollow.

It was a tipping point for a lot of us.

So I think that's why I have such a massive, visceral negative reaction to these fuckers. I hated them in school, it wasn't right then, it's not right now only there's no teacher to discipline the behavior. Only seem to care about results only and not the process.

But hey, we got an upgraded main water shutoff installed during all that mess.

We're in the process of making sure the Console Room is properly dry so we can put things back for Christmas, then we'll check and prep for drywall repair next month.

I understand some of those developers are doing that specifically to get the C-Suite off their back about AI while keeping their jobs, but I also know it's still contributing to the problem of muddying, and will only create a push to totally end automation of repetitive tasks in the creative space.

here's the thing, a lot of people are kinda rushing to make sure other people know which is the "real/bad AI" but most people (devs) who are using the term? are using it confusingly on purpose, and I refuse to give them the benefit of the doubt. because this is a ploy to muddy the waters. on purpos
