It's been one year since TEWWBAD launched. How has it gone?

609,129 words published, into the fourth volume;

On Royal Road:
• 3rd Best-Rated Ongoing story,
• 7th Best-Rated Overall,
• Best in Drama, Psychology, and Tragedy;

And a Patreon income of $2,920/month.

I think that's a good start.

It's amazing the mental contortions going on here to avoid directly confronting "These people made genocide their red line and refused to vote for my candidate because of it."

Because when it's phrased so clearly, it's eminently reasonable.

I swear this is all just guys who listened to too much Boulevard of Broken Dreams without bothering to think about it critically as they dropped out of life in high school.
Yeah, this is really it for me. This really sums up everything about the fascist death drive, the utter illiteracy of conservatives driven by nothing but aesthetic, and the unthinking masculinist bravado underlying it all.

The male urge to fucking die in a frozen wasteland to own the libs.

Italian voice actor Carlo Bononi was the voice of all of the characters on Pingu. A trained clown by trade, he used a theater technique called grammelot, which consists of "speaking" in a mix of babbled gibberish noises. He improvised all the voices live and unscripted.

I'm so done with @microsoft.com pushing AI on me. Their latest move is to rename Office to the "Microsoft 365 Copilot App" so they can pretend more people are actually using their god awful slop machine.

I'm out. My next desktop is going to be Linux. Fuck their broken windows — it's penguin time.

i do find the avatar movies super interesting in how they take their environmental message to heart and conscientiously clean up after themselves in your brain when they're done

Anecdotal evidence also suggests my ass is fantastic, my bank account has hit eight digits, and all the girls are just lining up to throw themselves at me.

No, I won't say who told the anecdote.
This shit is made up, actually

Dear Patreon: I do not care about my total earning across the last thirty days ($1.5k), I care about my total earnings from active pledges ($1.34k).

There is no fucking world where earnings over a rolling 30 day period is a useful metric. Why show it prominently on the App, without context??

I always describe it as "Does the image on the screen look like you could smell it?" I don't mean in a bad way. Too much modern film is visually sanitised, wiped down, to the point that if it does have a scent, it's blandly inoffensive.
This is a really remarkable video essay on contemporary film and the theories of Laura Marks. It's making me think about movies in a new way.

"Why do you write about this so much? It's uncomfortable."

Well, you see, therapy failed to convince my brain that all the bad what happened wasn't my fault. But writing others going through it continues to assure me that monsters are real and I was around too many during my formative years.

I don't understand why the secret rulers of America from Metal Gear Solid 2 are going to be popular this Christmas, and at this point, I'm afraid to find out.

I had a very weird dream last night where Obama (yes, that Obama) was making a prestige film in which he acted as himself, wherein he never became President and instead went out to California to participate in a new gold rush.

...It's just his post-presidency media career.
